Not far outside Rouen in the countryside we found this pretty chateau with its fascinating gardens and eclectic collection of sculptures - many of them oversized versions of everyday items - like a traffic cone or a spirit level or a garden chair. The plein air exhibits fit perfectly well with the rather formal gardens and the nicely preserved chateau. So peaceful, no crowds and the gardens and sculptures are free. Our grandchildren loved it - plenty of space to explore. I thought the Japanese garden - hidden away in a corner was marvellous.
