The largest Polish National Park, and one of the largest in Europe, is located in the north-east corner of the country - the area known as the Green Lungs of Poland. The most precious part of the park are The Biebrza Marshes. Home for rare wetland birds and mammals such as Elk, Beaver and other animals. Great place for wildlife photography. The best time to go is either early spring or late autumn, when the atmosphere is just awesome. Very wild and very quiet. Spectacular views and colors, mysterious corners seen either from the boat, or during a long walk, make Biebrza National Park one of the top destinations in Poland.

We started the journey from the forestry house in the village of Grzedy. You cen get there a map of trails and some hints if you need. There is beautiful and quiet in the forest. You can hear only birds and bees.

There are several itineraries available. The one with a long footbribge in the middle of wetlands is the most interesting one.

This is for nature loving people. Great biking trails, or trekking. One can also spend a day canoing on Biebrza river - smooth ride even for the first timers.

Biebrza National Park offers wetlands and forests full of rare bird species and other wildife. The Visitor Center is actually better and the staff more helpful than in the better known Bialowieza National Park. However, it helps a lot if you have a local guide accompanying you since finding your way (and the many rare species of animals and plants) is not always easy.

We love National Parks and this one was no exception. It is a little difficult to visit, mainly because of horrendous mosquitos and horse flies. A face net and protective clothing might be a way to conquer it when visiting the place in the summer. Not much hiking across the park but a lovely place.

Unique and unforgettable experience with beautiful nature.
Amazing National Park with all its forests and marshes. Great place too relax and interact with this beautiful world.
Fabulous choice for the birds watches or photographers like myself. Really worth recommending as there's only few places left in the world untouched by human activity, especially in Europe. Only 2 hours flight from London. See the pictures for yourself. Some of the best ones I ever made.

I love the eastern part of Poland, Biebrza is one of the most remote areas in Europe with enormous variety of birds and if you are real patient great chances to see otters and Beavers as well. I have seen tracks of wolves, several European reptile species so enough challenges for both the experienced and less experienced traveller

The area is a combination of local rural businesses and wildlife, mainly marshes and mixed forrest. You can also see the effects of history on the landscape. Both older and more recent.

Any time of year is good but it is a marsh land and has a continental climate so summers are hot...and buggy. Winters can be harsh and cold but has it's own attraction.

Although we went pretty early to one of the hiking routes (06.30am) to be able to see more animals, we weren't lucky with the beavers, but we were close to a big elk and we saw no less tan 3 lesser spotted eagles. The área is huge and we tried several different hiking routes, all provided some nice surprises. On the way to one of them, we saw a couple hundred lapwings in a sown field. Next to a private viewing turret (near Kopytkowo) more birds of prey and roe deer, on the way there swans, cranes, gorgeous Polish horses, a beaver's dam. The hiking trail from Grzedy, very varying, and totally beautiful. One tip, be careful, because during the summer it will be full of mosquitos and horseflys, so get the proper defense -cream, solutions, whatever- against them. Visit the park house to obtain info, and if able get a guide to visit the park -a common practice in Polish National Parks- it will give you Access to more áreas of the park and help you make the most of the experience.

Great for sightseeing and birdwatching. Bring warm clothes and be prepared to wake up at 4am if you don't want to miss the best opportunities!
