This castle put on a Halloween party and they did a great job of it. They had one room decorated with lights (and heaters!) as well as a buffet and bar. The employees and locals put on a great show and did an excellent job. One of the most haunted places in Europe and it's creepy at night. Great fun... More

Beautiful medieval structure, with a lot of stories about princes and knights in shining armour - a must see in Romania.

Also called Corvin's Castle - see my review there. A 15th century citadel kept in "closer to original" shape and gives one the taste of life at the time of its fame and glory: from the local kitchen. burial grounds, torture rooms and prisons, etc.

From the outside the castle looks amazing. Beautiful during the night and even during the day. But once u enter the castle then it is a bit disappointing. Not much explanation about the history by the people who run the place. If u have already done your own research before coming here then being here would be amazing. But if... More

The castle is a must if you arrive in this region. Entry fee is about 3euros and you are allowed to enter in almost all the chambers. The story of the well is unique.

Castle looks amazing from the outside, quite overwhelmingly medieval. By far the most beautiful.looking castle i have seen so far. The inside, with the exception of the first floor hall and the torture room - empty and boring. Hard to visualise the stories these empty walls have seen. Unfortunately very poorly maintained and evidently no investments into restauration made. Chairs... More

Hunedoara is a very industrial town and it seems that the Castle is a another good source of income although not very well developed. There is charged parking adjacent to free parking and there seems to be a 50/50 split in the customer decision. This is the first time on our trip to Romania that we are to see stalls... More

The Castle Vajdahunyad is fantastic, being there you feel like living in the 16th century. The same time the whole surrounding of the castle - the broken down industrial buildings and empty old factories all around the castle is so sad to see. They should be destroyed and a green area could be great instead of that.

We found the castle to be very good and not overcrowded. A local musician playing the pan pipes the sound from which echoed around the building added to the magic.
