    Vitis it!
Simply a breathtaking castle. Coming in From Brasov it was a long drive but it was worth it. It is a shame its not better advertised I consider it to be better then Draculas castle which was maybe spoiled by the expectations of seeing Draculas castle.

Nice side side trip from Alba Iulia
We stayed in Alba Iulia the night and were to drive to Sibiu the following day, so we decided to make the side trip to Corvin Castle because of it's obvious popularity. The car park is quite small and was full when we arrived. We parked on a dusty side street (for free). The exterior of the castle is all it's made out to be, quite amazing, surrounded by a deep moat with just a narrow footbridge to enter. Inside the main patio was under restoration, which bricks and stones all over. The castle is very sparsely furnished and the only room that impressed was the great hall. All in all, if you have visited Peles Castle and Bran Castle, this one is a bit of a let-down.

This was one of my favorite castle in Romania and it was worth the drive from Sibiu. It is well preserved but currently undergoing renovations which will make it better in the future. You can read the history of the castle prior to arriving. When we arrived, we simply parked on the street and got tickets easily from office. No need to pre-pay. There are a few antique pieces throughout the castle with explanations and a room of weapons. I loved how the bridge connected the tower of defense. . Plenty of areas to take great pictures and a well there with a great story. Enjoy the views

Good preservation and restoration of a medieval castle.
Yes it is undergoing renovation but there is enough to see. We did not expect to see the place fully furnished given the age and history of the castle. We came and appreciated the building. You can download a free app prior to the visit to utilise the audio guide. The rooms have signs with the exhibit number and an explanation in 3 languages (including English). We found free parking on a side street and there was no line to buy tickets, even on a Saturday afternoon. It was not crowded and there were signs to indicate the direction of the tour. Overall, it appears to be a well-managed tourist attraction with a reasonable entrance fee. They accept an Australian senior card to obtain a 50% discount on the entrance fee.

    Worth visiting
Reading some other reviews we were not sure sould we take a trip to the castle or not. But finally we took it and had some good time there. It was Saturday and there were a lot of people, and yet not too much, so we could easy get arround. Theere were two exhibitions and were free and interesting, a lot of rooms were open for visitors, one can learn something new about our shared history.

This place seems to always be under renovation. It is very difficult for one to see the whole castle’s interior as it is always covered by ugly scaffolds. This time more than half of the interior walls wore cover and half the interior was inaccessible. Very frustrating. The outside is very nice and I would go just for that. The 38 Ron per adult entrance fee is not worth what you are going to see inside. Neamts Castle was far better. This one wasn’t worth the drive. If you are close enough, go take pictures of the outside and leave.

Welcome to the citadel of Hunedoara, which has become the castle of the most brilliant king of medieval Hungary, Matthias Corvinus.
The monument has a special charm due to its various construction styles, the presence of military and civilian innovations, as well as the tumultuous courtyard life that has animated it for over 400 years.
Corvin Castle impresses with its presence, which dominates the city of Hunedoara. For those attracted by the Middle Ages, the castle is a unique monument in Romania and among the most attractive in Europe.

at last I've managed to go to Hunedoara, a beautiful town and an interesting castle. Some parts are very beautiful arranged, it has many rooms and towers to visit and the panoramas are almost breathtaking. In two rooms (the throne room and a dormitory) there were two musicians that played medieval music. A very nice experience and a part of our national history that thrilled me.

The castle is very beautiful and impressive: starting with the entry bridge there are many places at very high height, breath taking! Before the bridge is a square where you may buy food, coffee, souvenirs and you may rest on benches. You will see few centuries of history concentrated in this castle who once was the residence of Hungarian kings.
You may complete the day with a visit at Giardini di Zoe in Vinci village, a very beautiful park, built entirely as a private initiative.

The castle looks massive and impressive from the outside, Great instagram photos potential.
As for the inside, at our third (and last) visit, there are less and less chambers open to the public. It is used as a film set, there seems to be a permanent movie set and the visitors get in the way. At 35 lei each you don't get to see much as you constantly hear excuse me", "cut", "please, wait for the staff to move props, thank you", "that room is closed for...whatever reason" etc. It left me with the impression that visitors are allowed only for monetary reasons, other than that they're mostly intruding.
Not returning anytime soon, if not ever.

The castle is a special building, but not very neat... I think the municipality could pay more attention to detalis and layout... it s pretty sad.
In one of the halls there was a troubadour which seemd broken from that ancient time arrived here just to delight our ears and take us back in his time...

Wonderful castle that was kept in its original state as much as possible. Musicians made the atmosphere feel more medieval. The view was quite amazing.

1h30 was enough to visit it all.

It is a shame so many parts were closed to the public due to restauration works. Also, the staff should have more change, as the public can't always come with the exact sum.

We recommend!

This was a castle that we’ve wanted to visit for sometime now, and it was so much more beautiful than expected.
The castle is very open and spacious with lots to see and explore. The castle seems very traditional and original.
The only negative is that during our visit there was lots of construction work going on which meant parts of the castle were off limits and covered in scaffolding.
There are a number of stalls just outside the castle selling souvenirs and snacks.
Unfortunately the area surrounding this castle is very run down and industrial.

There is no official parking for this attraction. Although there is a paid car park about 2 minutes walk away. This is reasonably priced at 10 Leu a day. This car park seems quite safe as there was an attendant there and also some small stalls selling souvenirs.

We visited here as part of an organised tour in August 2022. From the outside, the castle is obviously stunning - pretty much exactly as you’d expect a fairytale castle to look. We bought our tickets online to save having to queue at the entrance so that’s worth doing.

Across the drawbridge and into the castle and you enter the courtyard. A lot of this was under renovation when we were there which was a little disappointing. Inside, there is some info in English and Romanian and it’s worth checking out the different rooms, one of which has photos / paintings of how the castle looked over the centuries. It’s been renovated that many times that it can be hard to see the original purpose of some rooms.

The inside definitely isn’t as impressive as the outside but there’s a lot to walk around and see inside if you want to.
