We were staying local and had a beach day planned into our holiday itinerary. We were there off season so it was very quite, more space for us to explore. The beach is a fantastic mixture of soft sand, which changes into small bead like pebbles as the tide goes out. What is exposed when the tide goes out made for such an adventure for our 2 year old daughter. We made sandcastles, went rock-pooling and shell collecting. There is free car parking on the seafront, public toilets, beach showers, and a play area for little ones if they get bored of the beach. There are little islands that you can walk to and explore when the tide is out also. There are also several eateries on the beach front (the one we went to reviewed separately), so you can really spend some time there. If you are local, it is definitely worth a visit.

Short drive from our campsite, very clean beach. There’s a large car park. The children enjoyed searching for shells.

We are staying in a beach house overlooking the bay. The tide is phenomenal - the difference between low and high tide is unreal. The beach is sandy with a large array of shells. Off the sand there is a park, playing field and some restaurants.

This beach is sandy and has public toilets restaurants and free parking. The road however is very steep so if accessing by bicycle I recommend parking by the cinema in carantec and walking down the steps. The sea is very tidal and for no other reason than to share the photos I attach photos of the famous diving board of death at high and low tide. That’s how deep the sea is at high tide compared to low!

This was a great find and absolutely loved being there. Best going down in the afternoon when the tide has come in, but we waited. Beach volleyball facilities, bars, restaurants, playground, shop, showers, toilets and lively place to fly a kite and entertain the kids. They really enjoyed this beach and so did we. We didn’t use any of the restaurants as we took a picnic. But there was a place to buy ice creams at the end of a good day at the beach! Free parking too and not far away from the centre of the town.
