Garden Of Caves: A Microcosm of Meghalaya
Garden of Caves is located in Cherrapunji in a place called Sohra. The goverment should be credited for developing this spot into a gorgeous exhibition all the natural marvels that Meghalaya has on offer. There are a total of seven or eight spots each bearing a traditional name. The spots range from waterfalls to jet streams to hangng rocks. A heart shaped relief and foetus shaped etch add to the myth effect. The Garden is hidden in a remote corner of Cherrapunji and is generally overlooked by many tourists which consider it as just another water body. However, the Garden is aesthetically assembled with ample diversity. It is a photographers delight allowing one to get up, close and personal with nature's bounty. At 100 rupees per head it is a strongly recommended must visit place.

Well maintained & worth a visit
We liked the Garden of Caves. The entrance is ₹100 per head, and has 11 spots to visit on a guided stone path. Staff are placed at strategic points to guide the visitors. The path leads into caves and to small waterfalls, down some steps, around a bend, under a rock overhang and to another cave. Only viewpoint #7 has a steep walk down a number of steps (around 60 steps) to see a waterfall into a calm, shady lagoon. You can avoid this viewpoint if you have trouble with steps. The rest of the points are easily accessible and not too strenuous. Viewpoint #9 is a long bamboo bridge over the valley leading to Viewpoint #10 - a cave with water spouting from a rock which you can drink (quite refreshing). Overall a nice place to visit.

    Underrated, but highly recommend
Underrated, but a wonderful experience visiting this place. It comes on the way from Shillong to Chherapunji and would recommend including in the itinerary. The caves are unique with nature at its best and there are about 11-12 points which one can cover in the garden. It’s a place unlike anything else I have been to before and was much better than we expected.

The Garden of Caves is one of the best attractions in Sohra and quite a hidden gem. The place requires you to walk through the garden in a designated path on which you can see 11 different spots which are clearly marked. It is one place where you get to experience a river, rich flora, caves and several waterfalls very up close which was one of the best ways to view them. It was a wonderful experience and the garden was even more beautiful due to the rains.
Only point against it is that you have to walk a lot with several steps and would recommend only the first waterfall and cave experience for the ones who cannot exert much as there is a exit point just near these spots while if you go to the other spots it’s a long way back. Must visit place.

It is ok ok type spot. If you have time you can opt otherwise you can skip. We went their early morning approx 9 am. So there was no tourist. But before going there confirm their opening time. Also, it is closed on Sunday which is effective from Jan 2020. Except for the rainy season, the falls have very little water.

One of the most beautiful places I visited in Meghalaya, although it was a rainy day, but we enjoyed the waterfalls and beautiful scenery of various places. I strongly recommend visiting this place. This spot does not float in Meghalaya

Wonderful! This is the way one can describe the spot. Very well made full of caves, waterfalls and natural beautiful. You will have to walk quite a bit with steps as well. The exercise is worth it as you get to experience natural beauty all thru. Quite a refreshing experience. Will take good amount of time to cover it in greater details.
