true story: back in early 2015 my family and I visited the Caverns and had a great time. Very informative and exciting for young children and big adults! Fast forward to today, 25th November 2016 and we receive a surprise when the kind and very honest folk at the caverns write to us explaining that they had recently found a... More

The underground tour was very informative and our guide was great. Learned a lot about how the mine was worked quite amazing. Went on the Quarry Explorer you must do this the views are brilliant a bit bumpy but exhilerating.

After climbing Snowdon, myself and my partner wanted to do something different while we were in the area so chose the slate cavern going purely on the reviews we had read. I won't lie, I gulped at the £20 per person entry fee but believe me, it was worth every penny and more! I'm not going to give a run... More

We arrived on a very misty day, but the quarry tour was run just for us. The guide, Shane and driver Bryan were brilliant and bought the history of the mines to life with their stories and experiences of when the mine was running. We returned to the mine to experience the underground tour which was also guided by Shane.... More

At two different times, I went to Llechwedd Slate Caverns to experience the attractions---first, I went with friends for the deep mine tour, which was fascinating, entertaining, and chock full of history. Next, I met a friend there to experience the Quarry Tour---what an exhilirating ride with incredible views. The guides for both experiences were extremely knowledgeable. I definitely recommend... Ok, but very pricey. We didn't do the mine tour, we just wanted to buy a piece of slate with our house number on, way too much to pay. The items on sale are really nice, but a bit too expensive for what we wanted

Thank you for your review. Unfortunately Welsh Slate is an expensive product. There are only a few quarries still working and good quality slate is in short supply which increases its value. All of our house names are made individually and so each piece is unique. I hope you find what you are looking for. Next time you are in... More

A great adventure down the slate mine with Kieran our tour guide. Very enthusiastic and certainly knows his stuff. We all dressed in overalls and hard hat complete with torch. Had a great tour of the mines.

Early morning excursion at a bargain £10 each price. Had 1 1/2 hour trip guided by an enthusiastic lovely gentlemen. His humour and experiences brought the mine to life. Easy walking, only 50 odd steps down, hard hat needed though. Very picturesque and atmospheric. Well worth a visit if around the area.

Very interesting to see how the life of a mine worker was way back when. We were told that there were steps which was true going down but the way the mine is we made our way around the mine and did not have to climb the steps on the way back which was a bonus. It was not as... More

Having been previously many years ago it was good to see the attraction had developed but retained its character. Early bird booking in advance can gain a good discount. Phil our guide, one one of the last relations of actual Llechwedd slate miners brought the hardships of the past workers to life. The new deep mine audio visuals tell a story... More
