Boat trip ended at Wasini Island. Very boring food at the included restaurant
Nothing special about this Island. They have bad food and the population thinks that you should “promote” them just because they are humans. Definitely not a place I want to see again. But we did see dolphins on our boat trip and snorkeling on a nice reef. So after all the day was ok. Therefor three stars. But Wasini Island itself. Not even one star

    Wasini Trip
The trip to Wasini was averagely good. We got a good boat at the beginning though later it developed some problems. Our tour guide initially told us that we could step out when we got to the marine park and so some of us who were holding on for the call of nature were looking forward to this. When we got there it was the opposite and we had to wait for another 1.5hrs to get to wasini. The snockering was good we saw some few dolphins too. The food at wasini not so good and the facilities there are wanting especially the washrooms. Kwale County and possibly whoever else is benefitting from this should make it better.

    Nice enough day trip
Did the day trip from Diani as a family. We had no specific expectations and it ended up being a nice day out. We spotted dolphins then went out snorkeling on the reef. Views of the islands were good and the coral was healthy and full of fish. I thought the lunch was quite good. Staff was friendly and informative. Of course we went in high season so the boat was really full (too full) and there were a number of them. The restaurant was quite full too. Overall it was a typical snorkeling day trip that you find in many countries. Although for this one I got the sense that the local community was very involved and benefited, so it felt quite good.

Lovely location - long trip from Nyali though . Driver wouldnt turn AC on as too expensive (but we were paying fuel!) and i had three kids sweltering in the back. Made the trip unbearable. Wasini beautiful. no dolphins just lots of fish and coral to see . Lunch was so late should have had first really

Sadly, the famous Wasini Island tour has recently deteriorated and has become a tourist trap. It wasn't worth the money we paid for it. The tour starts with an hour long boat ride on a dhow to Kisite-Mpunguti Marine National Park and Reserve (an Island) for snorkeling. We had to haggle with the captain because there weren't enough life jackets on the dhow and he did not seem to care. Safety is not a priority for them sadly. On the way to Kisite, you may see dolphins. Kisite is indeed beautiful and the snorkeling experience there is world class. After Kisite we went on to Wasini for lunch that was included in the package. This is the lure for most tourists going on this excursion. The whole package includes a lunch of fish (snapper), rice and some fruit. However, you have to pay extra for lobster ($10), Kalamari ($10) and prawns ($15). They insist that the extras must be ordered before you get to Wasini, meaning you don't really know what you are paying for. We ordered prawns and kalamari. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. The prawns were tiny and certainly not worth $15. The kalamari was just so bland and unsatisfying. There was discontent by many others in our group. The restaurant ended up discounting the extra food costs for those who complained the loudest. It was too obvious to everyone that it wasn't worth the cost.
The only thing we really enjoyed was snorkeling at Kisite Island. Everything else was garbage.

Having travelled to this part of Kenya for nearly 20 years, here is my RECOMMENDATION: If you wish to go on this excursion, do not go with a big group. Snorkelling with a big group is also restricted and time-constrained. You should instead pay a smaller boat company to take you and your party to Kisite Island. Snorkeling is the real draw on this excursion. The cost of this would be $45-$60 total for as many as 7 people, while the dhow operators charge $50 PER person for the mediocre experience I outlined above! You can pack a small lunch if you wish and eat it on the boat. Thereafter, you can then go to one of the many famous sea food restaurants in Shimoni or Diani such as Nomads or Leonardo's. Do not fall for the "free seafood lunch in Wasini Island" tourist trap. Hope this helps. Have fun in Kenya!

Manuu first responded all my messages quickly, he gave me all the info, very professional. A tour was very nice, everyone was on time, the boat crew and the driver were great, very relaxed, didn't bother for tips like some people can, but it is nice to leave it for their hard work. We saw maaanyyy dolphins, amazing little sand island, snorkeling and swimming, Wasini island and absolutely delicious lunch all you can eat in the end! Thanks guys, I'll def recommend you!!!

Our family of 4 did a day trip with Shikeli from Holaa Safaris to Wasini Island & Kisite Marine Park. It was about an hours drive from our Hotel , Neptune Palm Beach in Diani. We started off with the usual covid protocols at the Reception area , some of the facilities like the bathrooms need some upgrading. Wasini Island is across from the mainland. Snorkelling equipment(fins) available for hire , masks are provided. Our trip started with a visit to Kisite Marine Park , about 75mins by boat. The guys could invest in bigger motors as its a rather long trip. That being said the snorkeling was probably the best we have ever experienced across the world. The amount of reef fish we saw in a relatively small area was amazing. On our way we were lucky enough to see quite a few dolphins , the only ones who saw dolphins on the day. We were also lucky enough to see a turtle as well as a first ever , a Lion Fish. The visibility was awesome even when it was cloudy. After about 90mins the weather changed so we started heading back to have lunch at Wasini Island. The lunch was very tasty , whole fish - rabbit fish , some crab & even a treat of lobster which Shikeli arranged for us. The rain spoilt our tour of Wasini Island but the scenery around the island is amazing , eroded rocks , boaobabs & neon green colour trees. Overall a very good experience , $65pp

It was an hour and a half drive to get there from our hotel.
The boat jetty was not well managed and was chaos. The boat was crammed with people and took about two hours to get to a sand bar where we snorkelled.
The snorkelling was Ok then there was a trip back to Wasini Island for lunch
The lunch was average the staff in the restaurant were not polite and service was poor
Food was average at best
Then the trip back to the mainland and an hour and a half back
Not really worth the effort

We booked our tour through Francis as there was no one to book through at our hotel. @B7463XJfrancism Francis was amazing and extremely helpful very caring and looked after us well. The boat trip was fantastic and did exactly what it said on the tin. Snorkeling was great and our guide Mohamed was very helpful. Lunch was amazing at Wasini Mpunguti restaurant organised by Francis. After lunch we had a brief village tour but as it was very hot we were glad to get back on the boat. Drumming and singing the whole way back was very entertaining. A great way to spend the day and well worth the long car journey from Reef hotel.

My friends and I were looking for a day tour to wasini island and fortunately we met LBE tours which took us to shimoni from bamburi beach hotel which is relatively a 2hour drive after which they got us on a boat and got us to wasini island. On the way we stopped and got to see dolphins and we had a swim in the ocean. The sea food in wasini was top tier and we had an amazing time with other tourists from other countries. The tour company provided really great service and were reasonably priced. I recommend them to anyone and here's their contact.+254710239929

I thoroughly recommend Carol, Holiness, Ali and our expert navigator for making this trip once in a life experience. The snorkeling experience was awesome, especially for an inexperienced swimmer, a memory I will forever cherish. Holiness is a calm and experienced driver who made our trip comfortable. Overall, we enjoyed the island experience and would recommend Holiness and Ali if you are looking for places to visit around Mombasa. Thank you guys, you are the 👌
