Great experience

We took advice from here and contacted Chamil via whatsapp. He proved to be reliable, quick reacting, charming guide with a profound knowledge inside and outside the park. The early morning tour was fantastic and efficient. We enjoyed the moments with switched off engine when we were very very close to animals.
Prices are still the same 5000/person entrance fee and 5000/jeep including a nice breakfast. Other guides recommended here quoted higher.
Later on Chamil organized us a private car with driver to continue our trip. ( Not easy, as many of these driver have sold their cars due to Covid19)
Thumbs up for Chamil!

Safari visit
Sep 2020 • Couples
We saw a lot of peacocks , deer and birds. Even came across a wild elephant in close range. There were lot of elephants on the other side but was difficult to capture. Any way it was not what I wanted but as it is not a Zoo I cooled off

There are more tourists than animals
Aug 2019
The entrance is very expensive comparing to sri lankan entrance prices and to the experience. We saw elephants. The crocodiles were too far in the water the birds are little and there were too many jeeps. I expected to see more species

Elephants...
Mar 2020
This is a fairly large park within which several companies offer game drives. We booked with Niluka Safari, who were very good. Once in the park, the terrain is quite open, with small plains and the occasional watering hole where animals will congregate. Mainly, you'll see elephants, lots of them which is great, and they'll get quite close too. There are also lots of birds that your guide will spot and point out to you. Others to look out for - the occasional crocodile, land monitors, wild boars and some deer. Altogether, you'll get a good safari experience.

Excellent Safai with Lahiru
Apr 2020
We found Lahiru's details from Trip advisor and booked a private safari with him via Whats App (+94762726799), we were not disappointed and saw lots of elephants. He was a great guide offering a private tour in spacious raised jeep. The tour was not rushed or limited on time, we finished when we wanted to rather than set time. Went off the beaten track away from other jeeps. We had time to view a family of elephants (with babies) on our own without 5 other jeeps fighting for the best spot for pics. Arranged pick up and drop off (this is extra to the safari, ask p for a quote).

Excellent observation of animals, especially elephants close up.

If you want to watch wild elephants from a few meters, then you are in the right place. Notice the expression on the faces of elephants, which are much happier than in the zoo or elsewhere in captivity.

This was a great park and to see elephants, crocodiles, lots of different species of birds was just amazing. Baby elephants being protected by the adults. This is a good conservation park and well worth a visit. Our guid was great and we had a vehicle to ourselves.

Great park and safari

It's a must if you're in the area - go and see the elephants and other wildlife. In fact, our guide was very knowledgable about birds so we did a lot of eagle spotting, as well as everything else you get there. Which is a lot.

Awesome time in national park with Lahiru
Feb 2020 • Family
I found Lahiru via his numerous good reviews on TripAdvisor. We paid €100 for me, my wife and my son for a tour. I can see why Lahiru has lots of good reviews. He was an excellent guide and really made the effort to make sure we went to places where there were not so many other jeeps (couldn’t believe how many Jeeps there were on the day!). He was polite and answered all our questions and also gave expert advice on the animals we observed. Highly recommend 👍
