I am a big fan of French and Italian cooperatives as they produce excellent wines at reasonable prices. Cave de Tain is a classic example. We visited the winery and tasting room after scaling the Hermitage hill on a Viking River Cruise side trip on...More

We only visited the large shop and did not do the winery tour, as we have done many winery tours before. There were plenty of staff available to offer tasting of any wines that you were interested in and the young man who served us...More

Professional all the way through. We were very well received, the start of the tour took us through the essential parts of winemaking (though the most of us had visited wineries before, it was entertaining). A guide with a great deal of humour and able...More

I wouldn’t call myself a wine connoisseur, but even I could find a few wines to purchase. Considering what the price would be at home, this should be a stop during your travels to pick up a few bottles.

Fascinating place and a wonderful tour of the facility. If you are interested in wine, you have to visit this place. Just one word of warning - don’t be fooled into thinking that the shop offers any bargains. You are probably better buying offsite (assuming...More

We went to taste their wines. Nice selection. Staff very helpful and friendly. You don't have to pay to try wines as many other regions do. We walked away with a few bottles.

This cave features wines from the Northern Rhône Valley (Hermitage, Crozes Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, Cornas, and others). We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and ended...More

Hi, we are really sorry about the closing day, but we follow the french laws. We have to be closed 3 days a year at least, if you go on our website it's clear that we are close this day. Link : http://www.cavedetain.com/wine/winery-shop-cave-tain-hermitage.cfm

Excellent wine tasting. Free to taste all their wine that sells for under $50. The wines seem to be a great value. Helpful staff. Ended up buying several bottles.
