About
Formerly port whaler, then tuna boat and finally sardine fisherman, the port of Guethary is the smallest port of the Basque coast. It has the particularity to be in dry dock; in other words all the boats are raised outside the water there. The port is protected by a short dike. The port of Guethary is a peaceful place to be quietly discovered on foot.

Small but charming old port which started as a whaling base in the 14th century. Well worth a wander.

Nice port with boats that were equally quite nice. The slope was nice as the boats are able to sit on it at high tide but they also dont roll down.

A very nice place where we went in the middle of August during our stay in Bidart, there is a very small beach which overlooks the port and a large Basque flag which overlooks the port, with a magnificent view of the bay of the Basque coast makes the place very charming. However, I took away one star because we had difficulty parking and understanding how to get to this place despite the GPS, you have to walk quite a bit in the end despite it being a very small town, and the slope to go down there is quite steep.

Coming back from the party we had a nail driven diligently into the tire of our car, although it was well parked. Rest assured, this technique is effective: we will never set foot “at home” again.
