We took time to find The Congregational, only to find it looking very closed at lunchtime on a Tuesday. There was no sign that we could see that mentioned opening hours, or indeed if it was still open. A bit disappointed, but wandered down the hill into the first cafe, and had a lovely lunch among lots of teapots and... More

Really pleasant art gallery featuring the works of a variety of professional artists. Much more interesting stuff than the usual touristy paintings of Holy Island!! Home made cakes, comfie sitting area and warm welcome. But note it's only open thursday to sunday.

Visited last year and tried again this year only to be greeted at the door at to be told that they were closing. I can't remember exactly what time it was but it was early. Unusual since the music festival was on and Rothbury was full of visitors!

As you can see from the link provided here to the 'Rothbury Traditional Music Festival' website, not only were we open, but we were hosting compeitions in the gallery all of the afternoon! Competitions open to all that were very, very well attended. http://www.rothburymusicfestival.co.uk/competitions.html We closed after the competitions around 3.30pm, at the earliest, rather than our usual 4.30pm so... The food fabulous; delicious soups, breads, cakes etc. Sitting by the fire on the sofas is so relaxing- if you are lucky there may even be a couple of musicians passing the time there. Add to this the lovely art- one of the best places to relax in Rothbury.

This is a friendly, well- run Gallery, in a the beautiful Northumbrian town of Rothbury. Your dog is welcome, too and if, like me, you are Coeliac, you will find delicious treats to eat, and excellent tea or coffe to drink, while you savour the work on display. It's also very family- friendly - with comfy sofas and a log-stove. Phoned ahead and called in for lunch yesterday. Staff had gluten free bread for my sister .. Delicious chunky, warming soup for of us and a half portion of roasted tomato soup for granddaughter. Enjoyed gallery and drinking lovely cup of tea with a slice of yummy home made cake on sofas in front of log stove!
