Perfect for a last tour of the day, or for the experienced distillery go-er. Simply a sit down with a helpful guide for a tasting of 5 small drams. You go home with a tasting kit, which is unlike any other distillery we visited on Islay. It's a great way to dive deep into the spirit without having to endure... More

All distilleries might be basically the same, but each has something special. Only by visiting and taking a tour can you find out what that is. So glad I did. Now I know! Thanks Ian and Sophie. Just would advise booking in advance if you can.

We only attended basic tour, which was a bit shorter than in other distilleries (thou honestly listening to the whisky making process for the fifth time is not that exciting), but spending time in the visitor center with a dram (normal sized Glencairn that you can keep) was very pleasant.

The Tour wasn't available at the moment of my visit. The tasting was special: a wooden box with little bottles filled with 5 different Lagavulin single malts and 7 little bottles with different taste: peat, vanilla, sea-salt,... It is more a tasting of what you can expect in an Islay whisky rather than a Lagavulin whisky tasting. But still very... More

Make sure you do the tour of the distillery and then take the cellar tour - I got the chance to pull the whisky out of the barrel. It was awesome.

Me and my partner visited the Lagavulin distillery in late February and joined in the 10:30 AM warehouse tasting led by Ian McArthur. The entire experience was incredible. From the staff to the other visitors, and most importantly the amazing selection of cask samples not available elsewhere. We had an incredible time and would thoroughly recommend this to anyone else... More

Didn't get to do the tour, but the sensory tasting was excellent! They walk you through the complex tastes of their different whisky, and let you take samples of the ingredients and products with you! Friendly staff and a great place!

Lagavulin has long been my favourite whisky, so visiting the distillery was like a pilgrimage to Mecca. The setting is quite incredible, in a bay guarded by the ruins of Dunyvaig castle, a former naval base of the Lords of the Isles and the site where scotch probably first came to Islay. The distillery itself is very friendly off-season, and... More

Although the whisky offered were amazing and the host really nice, I don't think it was worth the £35. That being said, the little box they give you with the samples is super cool 👌🏽

The location of Lagavulin Distillery is quite stunning, with the ruins of Dunyvaig Castle guarding its shore. The cask tasting with Iain McArthur was a real treat. Even though the drams were very high in alcohol they were generally very smooth, especially the sherry cask 23 year-old. Delicious.
