My wife, our two 20-something daughters and I did the Romsdalseggen hike with our guide, Johannes B., on August 2, 2022, booked via Norsk Tindesenter in Andalsnes, Norway. The hike was fantastic — very steep with sharp drop offs in a number of places — with the reward being truly spectacular, 360-degree views of the jagged mountains, green valleys and deep blue fjord. We all felt totally secure with Johannes who was a complete expert and knew every secure hand and foothold along the trail. And Johannes was equally a terrific ambassador for Norway, answering our many questions along the way and giving us some terrific insights into life in Norway. We couldn’t recommend Johannes and this hike more highly!

Great museum. Building is modern, not too expensive to get in, and they have a great restaurant and gift shop. Now these things alone don't make a great experience so down to the important stuff...

The stories that are told throughout the museum are told in Norweigen and in English. You srart with a 3d film that is fab. Then there's lots of interaction with stuff to climb in, stand on, touch, read, listen to and watch. You also have the opportunity to use the HUGE climbing wall - so great value

You'll be best to give yourself at least 2 hours but more if you plan to climb and perhaps have lunch.

Do go - it's great.

There is little to do in the small village of Andalsnes itself (although plenty of activities round and about). Being there on a cruise ship we wanted to have a drink or snack away from the vessel for a change – so often the local traders derive little benefit from the visitors. We saw only one café/cake shop which was very busy, so decided to walk into the Mountaineering Centre which is housed in a very striking building right beside the dock, just to have a look around. We found a lovely licensed café/restaurant inside the centre and had a pint (well, 0.6 ltr) of Dahls Beer. The food looked good as well, but we were not hungry; there is outside seating as well as inside, and a good atmosphere The restaurant has the separate name of Spiret Spiseri.

Spent a surprisingly fun family afternoon here . Very hands on, and interactive exhibits all very interesting and also amusing ! Great friendly staff , lovely cafe with decking area outside overlooking the fjord , and free Wi-Fi for those able to tear themselves away from the amazingly beautiful view . Certainly worth a visit , fun but you also might just learn a thing or two !!

Didn't eat, but I saw a lot of people enjoyng late lunch. They have a very nice deck, out door restaurant with local meat grilled outside when weather is OK.

We are here to visit trollstigen, but it was closed for 2024. Instead we visited the climbing center. It offered a great overview of the climbing history, which surprisingly started in 1890s. The cafe is really good and has a great view to the waterfront.
