You purchase your tickets at Lockley Lodge (the staff there are warm, welcoming and very helpful) then a short boat trip takes you to this wonderful island off the coast of Pembrokeshire. There is so much to see and do including the puffins, seals, manx shearwaters, rabbits and owls, dolphins, porpoise and many more. For some the animals are happy... More

Visited during the last week of July. We were advised to get there early as it is first come first served as far as getting a boat to cross. As it happened we arrived on a Wednesday 45 mins before the first boat was due to depart and we were amongst the first people there, but we may have just... More

We visited on a round island boat trip and must say it was brilliant. We didn't get off the boat but with five young children this was just fine with us. Lucky enough to see porpoise, sun fish, puffins and very excited to see seals. Well worth a visit but the island itself looked quite heavy going if like us... More

Lovely visit to see the Puffins, very steep climb up from the boat. When you get to the other side of the island the puffins run between your feet! Also saw the owls in flight.

You need to take a picnic plus water with you ,also wear hike boots and take water- proofs in case of rain. There is a short talk when you arrive then you are free to walk around the island but you must keep to the paths so you do not disturb the birds. Best to visit before August so you... More

We brought our tickets as soon as the ticket office opened and they sold out quick. This is end of seasons so it you go in prime time arrive around 7am to get your tickets as there is no advance booking. You pay £12 per adult for the island then an additional £10 each for the boat there and back.... More

We went on August 2. Most of the puffins leave the first week of August but we did see quite a few still on the island . We saw one seal from a great distance away. We had to wait 5 hours for the next boat off the island which was too much for me. Parking was 5£ per car.... More

A boat ride gets you to skomer but be warned, there are a lot of steep steps to climb when you first get off the boat. But the climb is worth it, visitors are limited and tickets are on a first come first served basis, the ticket office opens at 8:30 so get there early. We went towards the end... More

An absolutely wonderful experience - even though 20,000 of the 22,000 puffins had decided to migrate and leave the island the day before! The puffins that remained were incredible. The literally land right next to you with a mouthful of sand eels and disappear in a flash into their burrow...only to emerge and potter around before taking off again. Although... More

We stayed on Skomer overnight and spent hours watching the puffins, the rabbits and all the other sea birds. At night the noise made by the Manx Shearwaters was incredible. This is an amazing experience .
