Cabezo del Gavilan is a view point on a rocky out crop between the beaches of Playa de la Pava and Playa la Reya. It is accessed by a wooden stairway which takes you past an archeological dig of some Roman ruins. The view point has seating and is perfect for watching the stunning sunsets over the Bahia de Mazarron. Even in broad daylight the views are beautiful and worth the detour if you are spending a day in the area. Plenty of beach bars, cafes and restaurants nearby.

It is a gentle slope then steps with hand rails to a fantastic viewpoints at the top. It's very safe and as long as children are supervised a treat for all the family. We have visited and ascended both bridges over the rocky outcrop from the beach in every season and times of day and evening. And we are always impressed with the views .well worth the small amount of effort it takes to leave the beach chair and walk.
Nearby is an excellent restraunt called l' Calderón that serves excellent food and is busy throughout the year as is the nearby cafe. Try the Asiatico alcohol coffee drink here it's local to the area and fabulous.

A free little distraction for our grandchildren. Easy to walk up and exciting for 5 years old and over to climb up these wooden stair/steps on a day out to the lovely beaches of this area.

It is a small walkway that is poorly signposted. We cycled our bikes up and down until we found a way to proceed to the front and park bikes and walk up the wooden walkway. It is good to have these viewpoints.

This mirador us situated directly on the beautiful sandy beach at mazarron. Lots of steps to get to the top but they have been very well maintained and there is a side rail for the less able. Great views from the top - both inland and out to sea.

Just simply an enjoyable stroll that takes you to a great view looking out to sea and also back in land. Great at night to be whilst the sun sets over the mountains.

Oh! Please, I have to assume that the positive reviews are all from people without transport and are stuck in this resort. We did not even take the lens cap off, the beach was grubby, the background buildings are in need of repair and renovation, whilst the distant view is of plastic greenhouses. Less than ten minutes spent here of which eight were walking to and from it.

Walk up to the headline, you pass a fenced off area which is a roman ruin, and along a wooden walkway. you need shoes as the walkway has small stones. Great views to the East and the West. To the East you see the old marina and Hotel Bahia and to the West you see the rocks where the Romans drilled to make a aquaduct for sea water to be carried into their salt ponds which lie a little way inland. (Now built on).
