According to Rabbi Nachman of Breslev, a famous Chassidic sage who lived about 230 years ago, any Jew who visits his tomb and recites 10 chapters from the biblical Book of Psalms will be rewarded with good fortune. Rabbi Nachman emphasized that the most appropriate time to visit his tomb is the Jewish new year. Thousands of pilgrims from all walks of life and all religious persuasals within Judaism spend the Jewish new year praying at the tomb of Rabbi Nachman in improvised synagogues and even in the streets in the hope that the undertaking givien by the sgae some 200 years ago will materialize for themselves. Basic accommodation cna be found in private houses and apartemnts owned by local residents of Uman who hire out beds in their homes for the new year period. Meals can be had in huge tent-restaurants where 4000 are served traditional meals for a pittance. Accommodation and meals are of secondary importance. The pilgrims spend their time praying at the tomb of the sage in the hope that his undertaking will come true and that the new year will hold good tidings in store for them. The atmosphere is relaxed and a feeling of brotherhood pervades among the vistors despite the fact that all are strangers and do not know each other and all copme from different walks of life and religious levels of observance. The common denominator is to have a spiritual experience and to utilize their time in prayer and introspection in anticipation of a happy, healthy and prosperous new year. recommended for all of the Jewish faith who are prepared to experience something new and spiritual.

The more obstacles(spiritually & physically) you have getting there, the more you need to know you got to go. Of course the more spiritual preparation you have before you go the better the return you recieve. No gaurantee you will sense anything but R Nachman gaurantees that if you do your part he will this his.Of course the more you atempt to connect w R Nachmans teachings after your visit the more likely you will connect. This is an incredible place to visit, and if you take it seriously you will leave a completely different person.
For non-Jews, I would say it’s worth it just to see, but nothing too special about it.
For Jews- I highly highly recommend first learning a little bit about Rebbe Nachman’s life, some of his teachings, and why his burial site is so special. It will put a lot of the significance of going to his grave into perspective. It may even make a Breslover out of you . Say Tikkun HaKlali, 10 Psalms including Psalms 16, 32, 41, 42, 59, 77, 90, 105, 137, and 150. Then give something to charity. It may also be beneficial just before giving charity after you say the Psalms to think about your life – everything you’ve done. The good, the bad, what you want to aspire to, and have real regret about undesirable transgressions or acts you’ve committed. Be as sincere as possible regarding your new resolve to change your life. You’ll see that things will start to get better. Kind of spooky….

Go during Rosh HaShannah. It is unreal.
There are plenty of accommodations. I suggest you plan before hand, but if you don't....somehow everything will work out.

Praying at the tomb of Reb Nachman is meant to ensure your wishes are heard. Unfortunately the tomb is more commercialized than other sites in Ukraine like Rav Natan's tomb in Breslev or Levi Yitzchak in Berditchev or the Baal Shem Tov in Medzhybizh. Nevertheless a must see for anyone doing a tour of Kivre Zadikim

When my wife and I visited there was no one else there. I was greeted by a very nice man who explained the site to me.

I would have liked to learn a little more.

Uman thru ought the year is a very spiritual experience. but it doesn't come close to Uman Ron Rosh Hoshana. on the Hebrew New Year Tens of Thousands Jews, (mostly male) gather at the tomb and Pray, Sing and Dance. Meet People from the whole world and connect to the message of 17 century chasidic Master Rebbe Nachman. Reb Nachman is a Grandchild of the founder of Chasiddus the Holy Bal Shem tov. his message is one of Unity, Seclude Prayer, Joy, the power of Song.
If you are a Jew, no matter how far from a practicing observant Jew, it will touch your soul and give you purpose in life. recommended for all ages. and for an open heart.
If you are looking for luxury, 5Star Hotels and materialistic pleasures. this place is NOT for you. but if you are ready to open your life to ecstatic experiences and get food for your soul, hop on a plane and be there!

I came here with a friend in february, which is a relatively quiet time compared to other times of the year. There was a Breslov wedding that night which was small compared to other weddings, and anyone can attend. It was very lively with loud music and dancing - Breslov style. Prayer by the tomb of Rebbi Nachman is also uplifting. I'm looking forward to hopefully return one day for Rosh Hashana. There is a place with some free food, and nearby store ("Minimarket") with only Kosher food (although a bit on the expensive side).

Coming to the site of Rabbi Nachman's grave is a very spiritual experience. As such it is also very very personal. Coming the first time and every time after that has completely changed my life and my view of things.
