I have to admit that I didn’t know what a via ferrata was before I signed myself and my daughter up for it. She loves rock climbing and I thought that it would be something that we could do together. So while my wife and son did the Canopy activity, which they thoroughly enjoyed, the two of us harnessed up and hiked up to the starting ladder. We had Gerardo/Tuza, and I cannot imagine a more competent, helpful guide. He made my daughter feel like she could accomplish this amazing feat and reassured me as a dad that she was in good hands. If you are at all interested in this activity, just go for it! This is a thrill of a lifetime and at least equals skydiving as the most extreme experience I’ve had. One tip: it is quite cool on the mountain, so unless you enjoy being cold (I actually do), consider long sleeves and pants and definitely hiking shoes. If you opt for shirts, wear sunscreen (I got burned).

Via Ferratta was great fun!
Jun 2019 • Couples
We thought we were hiring a rock climbing guide but due to translation issues ended up at this via ferratta facility. Glad we stayed. It was absolutely beautiful and incredibly cool climbing this significant wall. The bridges were exciting. The climbing very safe since you are attached with lower and upper harness to a continuous cable throughout the entire journey. You have to move your carabiners as you go, so young children might have a problem with this. The holds are generally made of rebar, so they are thin cable. Once you get to the top, you need to hike down the mountain. Therefore stiffer hiking boots more appropriate than sneakers. The two of us had the place to ourselves and could go at our own pace. Took us about 1 1/2 hours up and 1/2 hour to hike down the back. The bathrooms were clean. Only complaint, guide that went with us did not speak English. That was fine for most of the climb, but a bit too complicated for us to consider tarzan jump. The alternative was also fun since you get to climb up a narrow canyon.

The best via ferrata in Mexico
Apr 2019 • Friends
This is an adventures park located in the middle of a dense forest in Hidalgo, in this place you can do many things like vía ferrata, canyoning, canopy, rappel and trekking. In spite of the fact that there were many activities to do I only choose one: the via ferrata. A via ferrata is a route where you can climb a mountain with the help of iron studs for footholds and you are fastened with to an iron wire so you can’t fall down. The via ferrata Mineral del Chico is in a mountain that has more than 200 meters of height. The duration is approximately 3 hours and the cost 900 MXN pesos per person. It’s an incredible experience if you like the adrenalin. The crew that guide you during the trip are very friendship and they help you in every moment. One useful piece of advice is to wear comfortable clothes and a pair of sneakers. Note that if you go in winter or autumn you need to wear a jacket because the weather is terrible.

One of the bests extreme experiences I have done!
Mar 2017 • Couples
This is one of the best things in life I have done so far!! I did the Via Ferrata. I was not really prepared at all (not well slept, not the best clothes and not hydrated!!! ) they should tell you this when you hire the tour, thats my only complaint..because it is extreme and if you have vertigo don't do it! I had no idea what I was going to experience and that helped because I was really tired!! In the end it was so worth, I even did the Tarzan Jump which is really brave, you need guts..and the views and the mountain and the nature...I love the mountain teachings...it is so similar to life's teaching: "One step at the time, don't look back, always look forward and high, keep breathing, don't stop, you can't go back, you can't quit, be present, etcetera!!" I really loved this. Thank you Topo (our young and very good guide!!)

Only for Adventure seekers
Dec 2015 • Friends
My first adventure in Via Ferrata. It's wonderful and costs only 800 MXN pesos per person. It takes nearly 4 hours to complete the entire climb and to return. Though they have other small adventure activities, I recommend this. The mountain that you climb is called Peña de la Tanda. You can also reach this mountain via normal route by trekking but you must contact localites who can take you. Also, you have another peak taller than the above called Peña de la Monjas and there localites who will take you to the peak with a trekking but cost you very very less (250 MXN). This is almost 6 hours activity. Other adventure activity which is located at the base of the mountain might be for family members who don't want to climb the mountain. Also they have trekking in the river for 1 full day or half a day. Basically if you know the route you can do the trek by yourself. We are not happy with the services given by them during the trekking or entire trek itself. Overall I recommend this H-GO adventures only via Ferrata.
