The place deserves a visit. Although the visit is quick, there are authentic furniture, carpets and works of art. The Palace still houses the residence of the state governor and the offices of the Maranhense executive, although these areas are closed to visitors.

Well-maintained building in the historic center of São Luís (Maranhão). It's worth the visit although opening times and special events are not clear on the official website. An unmissable spot in São Luís MA.

This the official residence of the State Governor. Everything is well kept and the historical furniture fantastic. There are free guided tours everyday but mondays. Check with a local guide.

Considering that Sao Luis is the worst place for attractions that I have visited in Brasil, I give 5 stars for this visit because the attendance was good, the tour is for free and you can learn a little bit about the history of the place. You can also have free access to water, toilets and air conditioner in the museum.

The palace was built under a french influence in a perfect place with a wide view to the bay. The best time to visit is definitely when the sea is high tide - sun will reflect golden waters - a must see place in São Luis!

The Palace is really beautiful, seated by the bay. The sunset is the best time for pictures cause the waters at the bay are golden. I recommend the free guided visit: it lasts about 30min and it's totally worth it. The tour guide was really competent and kind and the rooms and furniture are really exquisite. The visits start at 3pm on weekends.

The governor still uses it, which is why there are portions of this house that the guides will forbid you from taking pictures in.

It has some old pictures and dining tables used by formerly important and current potentates. If you are a foreigner, you will soon forget it. However, there is a machine that takes pictures of your group in front of an ornate staircase, which is kind of fun. You'll spend about 20 minutes here, which is more than enough.

This incredible building is the home of the Governor. Part of the building is open to visitors, and they offer free guided tours. The tour lasts about a half hour and is worth the time.
