After recommendation on the Gurdian we have registered for a visit and tastings. We were warmly welcomed for an hour a half of a very hospitable discussion of tastes and preferences; of personalities and reflections. If you are ready to face yourself because of good wines -jump whole-heartedly into this experience. We have enjoyed it very much.

It was 18 of March, rainy day and I had family visiting me. we were 5 adults, but only 4 drinking! All the 4 of us love wine but none of us is an expert... I thought that it would be nice to drive up to Colmar and to get a decent introduction to the great wines of the region. After reading some reviews and articles I decided to contact Mr. Phillipe Blanck to ask if we could show up at his place in Kientzheim on a Saturday at 11. He replied a few hours later and we quickly made all the arrangements with one of his staff members and were set! We showed up as agreed and we were welcomed by Martine since Phillipe was away. I guess you can come at anytime but we decided to contact previously. In the end of the day we were there alone since it was low season. Martine is not an expert like Phillipe but knows more than enough about their wines and was great to have her as a host. So she allowed us to try several different wines and explained us as much as she could - she was fun, dedicated and generous - thank you. We talked a bit of english and french for more that 1.5 hours. now the most important part - Their wines are sensational! I was amazed with the quality! It was an unforgetable experience - tasty and educational. I was in love with the Auxerrois Vieilles Vignes, Pinot Gris Altenbourg, Mambourg Gewurztraminer, etc etc. Superb wines, large variety. In the end we were happy to bring some bottles with us and I will now be looking for their wines in restaurants and supermakets. SUPER!

Such a warm hospitality, with so much passion to wines.
You'll be treated with more than 15 wines from simplest Riesling to vintage wines dated back to 90s.
Every question is being addressed with calmness and true love by Philippe the 3rd generation owner of this lovely winery and his son in law, Thomas
We could spend there whole day chatting on wines, tasting more and more flavors
Don't hesitate booking this charming place for a tasting experience that you surely cherish and remember for years

After reading a recommendation from a magazine, we visited this tranquil little town mainly for Paul Blanck and we were not disappointed. The host was very friendly and guided us through many of their wines. Even we confirmed our purchase, he still offered us some very nice late harvest wines. We bought their Furstentum Riesling and Gewurztraminer Grand Crus and considered them as our best buys during our trip.

This was really the best wine cellar we visited in the region. Just across from our hotel, we decided to try last as the last winery for the day and I am so glad we did!

The entry is cute with beautifully carved wine barrels inside. Some wineries seem annoyed when you ask for tasting, but here they welcomed us with a smile. Expecting only to taste a few our host kindly took as through most of his wines, explaining them all at a casul pace and answering any questions we had. Not usually a white wine drinker, I was pleasantly suprised to find some great vintages here and came away with several bottles. My personal favourite was the Furstentum Riesling Grand Crus.

Best winery visit by far in Alsace. Phillippe is truly charismatic, wine passionate guy and the most importante, love sharing his knowlegde about alsacian wines, lecturing and drinking along with visitors, in a spontaneous and joyful way.
My wife and me had wonderful and unique experience in this winery. Congrats Phillippe! merci beaucoup.

Philippe Blanck gave us an extraordinary amount of his time: explaining the history of the region, the terroir, the grapes, the various directions and experiments this prestige house has made over the years. He has thought long and hard about the process of tasting and thoroughly enjoys imparting his ideas on the subject. After 14 offerings, even the spitting cup did not save me from being glad someone else was driving. When the tasting was done, Philippe drove use through the terrior (rain prevented his desire to walk it with us, then he joined us for lunch and further discussion. A busy man (in addition to making wine, he is president of this and vice-president of that) who was very generous with his time.

The wines themselves are excellent value for money and we loaded several cases into the boot to bring home.

Christian gave us the full overview of the wines of Domaine Paul Blanck, including “les classiques” (entry level), “les incontournables” (the essentials), “les vins de terroirs” (single vineyards including the Grand Crus) and “les vendanges tardives” (late harvest). We tasted all of the important Alsatian varietals: Riesling, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Gewurtztraminer, Sylvaner, Muscat d’Alsace and Pinot Noir. We tasted a total of 22 wines including 7 Grand Crus! For me, the Grand Cru Rieslings and Gewurtztraminers really stood out. Christian explained the importance of the terroir - how the location, soil, sun exposure and elevation all shape the wines. This was a fantastic experience! (25 Euros per person - we thought this was money well spent). As an American wine lover who knew very little about Alsatian wines, I came away informed and inspired. One note: the wine tasting room is very simple. It doesn’t look like the picture. But don’t let that dissuade you from tasting these great wines. The village of Kientzheim is very quaint and quiet.
One more note: My wife and I visited with our son and daughter-in law. We had their 3 children with us (aged 6-12). This worked out fine. There was a table where they played cards while we tasted wine at the bar. The winery provided them with water to drink.
