In the middle of vast vineyard and hundreds of years old olive trees, mesmerizingly peaceful atmosphere where you feel and live the modestly hospitable character of all Mardin. Have to try the traditional coffee and the cookies with dates and almonds in the garden.

Every time we tried to visit this, it was closed! But when it opened, it was a bit of a disappointment. No guide points in English, and a limited area to see inside. So you dint really get a feel for the place and its...More

The historical and religious values/facts makes it a 5-star in the area and if you search the internet you will find these easily. However, when you go and want to see and feel these, they give you a guide which takes you through the monastery...More

This is a major location to see while in Mardin, but you are only allowed to be shown around by a tour guide (included in admission ticket). Would NOT recommend going with children under 6 because of the tour part, the guides had to constantly...More

A bit far away and from city center but if you go to this beautiful city will be great memory for your future. One of the oldest in it's category.

Honestly I don't know. I think there's accommodation for pilgrims but it should be easy enough to get in touch with them. They have a website.

A Trip To Mardin - Deyrulzafaran & Dara - Part III (3 Replies)
On our final two days in Mardin, we took the rental car out of the prime parking space and headed for historic sites near Mardin. That parking place was so good I was tempted to reach our destinations via dolmus, but the car was much more comfortable and instantly available. Our emphasis for these two days was on very early Christian sites. Mardin is home to a significant population of Syriac Christians. The word Syriac does not refer to Syria, but to the fact that these people were among...More

Great read! I was so tempted by the peacefulness of the village life in Mardin. Thanks so much for this excellent series of stories. It is so clear that you are gifted with writing skills. I wish I will see you using it more in future. Borus
