Not much inside as with many French chateaux but it was a pleasant visit and not very expensive - i think €6 per adult.

We took the train from the main train station in Bordeaux to Corens taking only 17 minutes and costing 6.8 Euro per person leaving Bordeaux at something like 13.10. Other trains do go to Corens, but can take considerably longer. From Corens, Cadillac is roughly...More

Unexpectedly nice and historic castle. From 17th C intrigue to the abuses of penal system this was amazing. Fireplaces were incredible. Even the gift shop was special

Parked the car, walked through the walled gate and up the hill to this Chateau. Free on the Saturday and an Art exhibition in place too. Central staircase with rooms left and right. The fireplaces are just beyond imagination and some unfinished. The size and...More

The Chateau itself is an imposing building in the lovely town of Cadillac. The displays inside are what makes a visit so worthwhile. Each room has a magnificent fireplace and the walls are the showcase for a remarkable display of tapestries. Try to gain access...More

It started as a chateau, built by a protege of King Henri III. The tapestries and the large fire places are the main attractions in the large rooms which do not contain any furniture. During its long history part of the chateau was used as...More

We did a river cruise that stopped in Cadillac. It is a very grand chateau with - at least in July - a very well done opera costume display in it.

This Chateau is large and imposing, and doesn't have the restoration which makes these places interesting, in my opinion. The areas which housed the women prisoners were very sobering and even a little spooky. I can read some French but not enough to understand all...More

This is worth a quick visit, but it is not a historic castle to spend hours in. It has been used for many purposes, including a prison, and a few areas are nicely restored. All signage is in French, and is very thorough. The grounds...More

The castle is very impressive despite being used as a women's prison over the years it's in good condition. At the time we visited there was a great exhibition of the costumes from an opera. This exhibition went very well with the castle I found.
