The park is usually filled with people the young and the old. There is the heart of Santa Clara. People moving around, or just sitting in the benches, having animated conversation, or using their smart phones. Also, it's one of the only spots with WiFi. Every town in Cuba has a park dedicated to someone. Leoncio Vidal was a Cuban revolutionary who died in the battle of Santa Clara. Around the park is a municipal building, also Hotel Libre Cuba and Teatro de La Caridad. There are also good bars and restaurants there. Inevitable is the top Cuban music and of course a variety of cocktails.

This busy park is the perfect place to get a glimpse into Santa Clara people's lives. It seems like everybody goes through the park at some point during the day or evening, as it's the place where you can change money or take buses. The communist propaganda add a factor of interest as well. The Santa Clara Libre Hotel may be seen as a eyesore by many, but it is a landmark and it can be used to guide yourself through the city. Take a cold drink, sit down and enjoy the crowd-watching.

Everyone that visits Sant Clara has to go here. This is the center of the old city and where the restaurants and sites are located. Santa Clar was not the most exciting stop on our trip, bit this was one of the most interesting sites.

This is the main plaza of Santa Clara. It's large, nicely decorated with statues and trees, and surrounded by the most attractive buildings in the city. Lots of people like to hang out here and many were involved with their hand held devices, both locals and visitors. We saw kids playing, old timers sitting for a rest, lots of locals and lots of tourists too. Oh, lots of benches to sit on as well. Maybe the nicest thing, however, is the 8:00 pm concert by the municipal band on Thursdays and Sundays. They are good and play both classical and popular numbers.

We really took a liking to this lively park in the heart of Santa Clara - it is probably our favourite plaza in Cuba. It was buzzing every time we walked through, from morning to late afternoon. Lots of people out for a stroll or sitting around chatting, including young families as well as older folks, teens and uniformed school students. The mobile ice-cream vendor was particularly popular with the locals. The park contains lots of mature trees (in the evening filled with raucous birds).

This colorful and vibrant square is the center of Santa Clara. Park yourself on one of the benches and watch the people and traffic for a while. Then do a stroll around the perimeter to admire the beautiful buildings. Check out the Santa Clara Libre Hotel, with bullet holes from revolutionary battles still in the walls. There are statues, a library, a theater and an art gallery, among other attractions.

There are Some unique and old architectural buildings around the square, a great place to just sit and watch the day to day life of locals and tourists alike. There is also plenty of places to sit and eat / drink the hours away , lots of the large old buildings you can go in,others are still under restoration, the Parque area as well as being the citys main meeting point,is a good place to pick up a horse and cart, to take you around the city, believe me this is a great way to see both local and tourist sites,10cuc for 1hr ,15cu 2hr,if you go via the square to the Che Monuments, passing the bus station there is a lot of local art on the walls, more down the side streets too, leaving the Che memorial go through the back streets ,seeing the local life and coming out near the Tren Blindado monument and museum, the battle of Santa Clara ,another must place to visit ,shows the historical site where the Che guerillas attacked the train with a bulldozer winning a great battle in the war,for revolution.the driver will stop and start wherever you want to take photos, well worth ,it and a great insight to Santa Clara.

A very vibrant park full of the young and the old. From the high school students flirting to the older generation getting some Tai chi excercise, this is the heart of the town.
This is a wifi hotspot to check email. Must purchase a wifi card. Shop around or get a Cuban friend to buy one for you. It costs them only one CUC ($1) an hour.
This is the place to find taxis and get on a bus or a tour. They also have a little goat wagon ride for the kids.
Museums and the theater surround the park.

It's a great park and the central square of the city. Each of the roads branching off the park offer great bars and restaurants. Also, it's one of the only spots with WiFi.

This square has lots of history showing the battle scars of the revolution with the bullet strewn hotel. However walking around on a busy Easter Sunday felt uncomfortable due to pestering from beggars.
