A local paradise!
Dec 2019 • Solo
The Upper Canada Migratory Bird Sanctuary is a little slice of paradise on the St Lawrence River. Easy hiking trails of varying lengths take you through forests alive with a multitude of birds and wildlife. Chickadees and nuthatches feed right from your hand, especially in the winter. Many species of birds come through at migration times. Plan on a picnic or participate in one of the many events put on by the Friends of the Sanctuary or the St Lawrence Parks Commission. Whatever you plan, give yourself lots of time to explore!

Very clean campground with nice washroom and very nice cabins. The only problem is hard to book cabin because it gets sold fast.

Wonderful day

This gem of a place gives you easy hikes on well groomed self-guided trails. Lots of interesting info provided and plenty of wildlife (especially birds) to see. Nice picnic area and interpretive centre with helpful staff.

Great for kids
Dec 2018 • Family
The kids loved exploring and feeding the birds. The paths were a bit slippery but that is to be expected in the winter. Remember to bring bird feed and the chickadees will eat right out of your hands!

A pleasant walk
Aug 2018
We didn't see many birds, but did see some frogs and squirrels. It was quite hot on the day we were there. The trails are clearly marked, but watch your step. There are tree roots, and in some areas, even a few holes that could trip you up, if not careful. The trails are in good shape, but it is a stroll through nature.

We glamped in a Treehouse
Aug 2018 • Family
This was our first visit to the sanctuary and we stayed at the Robin's Roost Treehouse. First, let me say, the sanctuary was nice and well appointed. Perfect for RVs, and not even close to skeevy. Everyone was so friendly and my kids were surprised that it seemed like everyone was french. I had to keep reminding them how close we were to Quebec.

The treehouse is truly fantastic. Full bedroom, second bed in the loft and a pull out couch. An actual washroom all to yourselves, BBQ, fridge, microwave, and air conditioning. Very, very good air conditioning. It's got it all.

Watch when you book. We never thought about the tides, and the tide was low the entire time we were there (four days). It comes with a complimentary canoe and outdoor shower. The water temperature is uncontrollable though, so if you like your showers hot, congrats.

Don't be in a hurry!
Jul 2018 • Family
On our journey, we were looking forward to this bird Sanctuary. Accessible from highway two, the access is clearly marked. You will need to drive your way to a chalet type on your left (not well indicated) this is the place to stop for the trails.

We did not see much. I think we need to be more patient and wait. It was pretty quiet when we passed by and some sections are closed due to previous flooding period which has damaged the footbridge.

I guess it is a destination by itself if you want to see all. I wish it was closer to my place so that we could get a better sense of all this place has to offer.

Oh, yes I forgot, we were nicely greeted by a chipmunk that really told us that we were in his territory. He was standing on his back legs and almost had his front on his hips. I wished I had filmed this. It would have gone viral for sure. Hope you meet him too.

Some flies, you may want to bring some insect repellent. It was tolerable when we went end of July.

Bring water. No water fountain on site.
Bathroom yes but maybe go first to give instructions to young ones.

Quiet and relaxing
Jul 2018 • Family
This was our family's first visit to the sanctuary. Staff at the visitor's center were helpful and cooperative. We walked the red-wing trail and enjoyed it, except for the deer flies (not anyone's fault, just nature!). I can not comment on the camping as we did not partake.

Love this place: clean, relaxed, quiet

We have camped from coast to coast and still this is one of our favorite campgrounds. Campsites are spacious, have water and electricity, washroom facilities are clean, swimming and boating are very close. Note that there is no playground for children, however lots of room for bikes, outdoor games, fishing, swimming and canoeing or kayaking. Highly recommend.
