Nothing more to say that the suggested walking circuit of the fountains is really boring. The town itself lack of life and character!

My wife and I found Pernes to be a lovely little town, quiet and characterful. On arrival we sat and ate our picnic lunch in the shade of the trees by the (in September) virtually dried up litlle river Nesque, watching 3 young men playing a very skilful game of boules - parfait! Afterwards we walked around and through this charming place, full of sunny squares and the ubiquitous fountains. We finished with tea in a nice cafe/bookshop which had a cool courtyard. What we liked best is that Pernes is not all touristy. (No OAPs in lycra!!)

Nice walk after visiting the local market. There are quite a few alleys to discover & it's worth the steps up to the tower for the views of the fantastic surrounding countryside

This is an interesting walk of about an hour looking at what is left of the hundreds of original fountains in the small town. You really get a close-up view of the neighborhoods too and some great history.

Looking for the 40 fountains on the circuit gives focus to your discovery of this charming little city. You are unlikely to find them all, but who cares. Besides lovely fountains, you’ll bump into some surprises: a pass-through city hall in the walls of a beautiful historical building, a large and centrally-located former church bearing the very republican motto «Liberte–Egalite–Fraternite» and turned into a cultural center, a museum dedicated to the bicycle, a Jewish ritual bath of 1504, an 17th century market hall providing the official measures for various produces, preventing cheating – all in a matter of two hours of wandering.
