Private Vienna Woods Wine Tour

Lower Austria is the cradle of Austrian viticulture, so we want to take you to the beautiful forests & vineyards of the Thermal Region, just south of Vienna. Home to traditionally quaint wine villages and some unique local varietals, we showcase the finest in farm-to-table Austrian wine tours. We offer two different tours, depending on the season:

In summer (Apr-Oct), we hike through forested trails and lush green vineyards, stopping en route for an open-air wine tasting and to appreciate beautifully expansive views over the Vienna basin to Hungary & Slovakia. We then continue to one of Austria's oldest wine villages for lunch & a winery visit.

In winter (Nov-Mar), instead of hiking, we focus our attention on the past, present and future of Austrian wine by first visiting one of its oldest wine-making institutions dating back to 1141. We then meet one of the region's finest vintners for a wonderfully intimate wine tasting and Q&A to showcase all that the Thermal Region has to offer.

Have been there many times, but this time, went for a mother’s day meal and was underwhelmed. Had booked table in courtyard downstairs and they tried to give me a table indoors on a gorgeous sunny day. I complained and explained i had specifically asked for outside, and got lots of attitude... like “when did you book? What 1 week? haha, this is mother’s day “... the classic austrian inability to simply apologise. Once we got the table outside, only 1 starter and 2 mains for veggies, and the kraut strudel was so so. My Zwiebelrostbraten was overdone, though the potatoes were good. Salad weak. Topfenstrudel for dessert was dry, and when we asked for Melange coffee, were told it comes with whpped cream. Asked for foamed milk and were told they dont do that (yet this is the classic melange in austria!). So shame. I will probably try it one more time cos the previous time upstairs was really good, so perhaps they were just overwhelmed by the occasion.

Great ancient location, superb food for an Austrian winery, good wines and very friendly owner unless are drunk and he offers you to taste some "schnaps" on the house, which unfortunately turns out to be quite expensive for your pocket, in spite of the fact that you are a regular guest. Sad, but true, definitely never again.

There are so any places in this restaurant to eat, that you could get lost! We were shown to a room in the smoking area but moved swiftly on request. There are several indoor areas, several outdoors as well and next door there is a lovely downstairs sort of cellar which looks as if it might be nice for private parties..... Service was swift, we opted for breaded chicken and venison casserole amongst others and everything was delicious just the chicken was too much! Their wine Die Versucherung is really good - interesting label for their wines....
