- O RNantes, France326 contributionsVery informativeThis unpretentious museum was a very nice surprise. Numerous written explanations as well as video and audio highlights the context of Canada's entry into the war as well as its contribution during the war until the landings. - Laurel MCalgary, Canada852 contributionsThis is the best museum I’ve been to. 100% Canadian!I had prebooked a timed guided tour online and Madison took a group of 10, all Canadians in this case, to 2 German bunkers and to the beach where the Canadian forces landed on D Day. You can’t go underground into the bunkers without a guide. So many interesting tidbits inside. She said the bunkers along the Atlantic Wall could be built so quickly as the area commander could choose what he wanted, prefab, like IKEA and then force the locals to put them together. After our 45 minute tour, we went through the museum. Price is included with the guided tour. The museum isn’t huge, which is nice, very well laid out, and doesn’t bombard you with so much information. But there are still great displays on what Canada was like pre war, the why’s and wherefores of Canadians and then of course entering WW11. Very well done. The movie at the end is extremely moving and brought tears to many eyes. The gift shop at the end has lots of great souvenirs including a wall with Canadian food products! And after being in northern Belgium and France for 10 days, it was so nice to hear Canadian accents! As a Canadian I felt very proud of what had been accomplished at Juno Beach and this centre is well worth a visit.Dear Visitor, Thank you for your feedback, we are glad your visit went so well and we appreciate you taking the time to write such a kind review that highlights all that we offer here at the Juno Beach Centre. We went for the free viewing of Storming Juno which was simply outstanding. Thank you for this opportunity. We didn't go into the museum - no need to after watching the documentary which brought to life the incredible sacrifice of 1000 of the 16 000 Canadians who fought for freedomVisited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 1, 2024
- Jim R21 contributionsThoughtful and engaging for all the familyWe went with three under 8 for an intro to D-Day based on a recommendation from Ouistreham tourist info. Great window not just into the events but also the war from a Canadian point of view. Kids very engaged, excellent videos an interactive point scoring games. The three year old just about made it... Didn't hurt that all the staff were naturally bilingual. I learnt quite a bit, would definitely recommend.Dear Visitor, Thank you for your feedback, we are glad your visit went so well and we appreciate you taking the time to write such a kind review that highlights all that we offer here at the Juno Beach Centre. - Robbie D21 contributionsInspiring!Impressive museum. We especially enjoyed the inspiring tour of the bunkers of Juno Beach. Our Guide Emma was very dedicated and told the story in a compelling way. Despite the heavy theme, there was also room for a joke, without it becoming inappropriate. - Allyn79Janderup, Denmark33 contributionsWell worth a visitIt was a spur of the moment decision to visit & so glad we did. The displays were very informative, interesting and interactive. That alone would have been enough to make it a great experience for the kids, but on top of that there is also an interactive game for the kids to play, answering questions about what they see and learn, with a prize at the end. The good this about the museum is that is staffed by Canadian students so this was, to me, very interesting. Our guide to the bunkers was Ellie I think and she was very knowledgeable. The museum itself is jam-packed with exhibits from the Juno landings with films shown in French and English. This museum is very informative, well set out and wel worth the 7,50 euro entry fee. Max and his colleagues make you feel welcome and have answers to all your questions. We saw the temporary exhibit first and learned a lot about Operation Jubilee. Next we visited the main exhibition, it start with a short film and than takes you on a one direction walk. I liked that it started with information about pre-WWII Canada. Later on I enjoyed the short films interviewing veterans, very important documentation. In the last hall Canadians from all back grounds tell you about their country today. All in all my 15yo and I are very happy we visited.

Maybe the lest known of the Normandy Beaches but certainly not one to be missed.
The museum is interesting and well laid out giving another perspective on the D Day landings.
The tours of the bunkers and beach are given by young Canadians all of whom I am sure are excellent at what they do.
However I can only comment on Jean-Philippe who lead our tour, his passion and enthusiasm for the tour shone through from the onset, only matched by his depth of knowledge. The personal touch he adds at the end is very heartfelt and moving. ( even for someone who is very familiar with the history of the 2nd World War)
There were several young people on the tour and Jean-Philippe held their attention through out. ( not always an easy thing to do)
As you may have guessed I would highly recommend this tour.

Very well done and moving exhibit. The tour to the bunker and the beach was great - our guide did her best to convey the historical import of Juno beach. I enjoyed learning specifically about Canada’s contributions which we Americans tend to overlook. I was shocked that 1/2 of Canada’s eligible population of 18-30 yo volunteered to go to Europe. Wow. Movie at the end was very emotional.

We visited this museum as a continuation of several visits concerning WWII. The welcome by the staff on site was relatively friendly and so was the temporary exhibition. The tour begins with an interesting immersive 4-minute film. On the other hand, the rest of the museum was a little more complex: too many explanatory panels to read, not very fun and interactive even for the professional historian that I am. I quickly gave up after the first room, I would have liked more objects or new documents. In fact, from its name "Juno Beach Center", we expect something else...

Bonjour Madame,

The history starts as you approach, if you walk along the beach and enter across the dunes you get the full experience of seeing the bunkers and tanks / guns and the memorial before you go in.
The staff were great, friendly and knowledgeable, it was well priced for what you got with plenty of interaction for the kids and quizzes throughout. The initial immersive video is a great introduction and the final video a really moving story of the Canadian sacrifice on DDay. We went to this museum on day 1 of our 4 day visit and it was a perfect introduction for us.

We had a great time at the Juno Beach Center. First of all, a very warm welcome. We start the visit, then go to the guided tour of the bunkers with a Canadian guide. We really appreciated this museum which taught us a lot about the past as well as Canadian involvement.
Allow at least 3 hours for the visit.
We recommend the Juno Beach Center.

A fascinating glimpse into the Juno beach raid by the Canadian forces, the display and artifacts are well laid out with stories of how Canada got involved and the impact they had on the French people. This museum does not have the military hardware that you would find and the Overlord museum but for someone that wants to learn more about Canadian history and it’s people it is well worth a visit. Not the easiest place to find as it could do with more signage. While you are there walk over to the Charles de Gaulle monument, there is no mention of it on trip advisor so have added it to this review as he is mentioned in the museum along with photos when he arrived back in to France on Juno beach

We had a terrific experience at the Juno beach centre. It has been so well planned from the opening experience of a landing craft to the museum to the short film at the end. Do opt for the guided tour of the bunkers with a young Canadian guide. These guides are completely bilingual and very informative. Ours was terrific. Jean-Philippe spoke fluent English, French and Italian. We are so grateful for the sacrifice of so many Canadians almost 80 years ago on Juno beach and in the months and years to come.

I have visited many museums in Normandy and this is one of my favourites. It's located on Juno beach where the Canadian troops landed in 1944. The exhibits are very interesting and informative. I found the short video at the end to be very moving. 'They Walk With You'
I would like to give particular praise to the young Canadian staff members. They were very friendly, informative and a credit to the Juno Beach Centre and also a credit to their country.

Planning a trip to Paris in October. It's only a short 2 1/2 days in Paris. I'd love to get to Juno Beach to show my respects and express my thanks. I def. don't want to rush the trip but time will be an issue. To get there and back from Paris and take in the sites how much time should I allocate? How much did it cost to rent a car? Tolls? etc.
Any help you could give is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

This can be done in one day but you will miss a lot. The drive is over 3 hours and you could see a lot in 4 to six hours. Plus you need time for lunch by the sea. It is unfortunate not to see the US and British beaches, but you can not do it all in half a day.
I have had good luck and lowest prices from Europcar rentals. Check out online!
If you have deep pockets hire a guide otherwise be sure to at least get a good guide book ahead of time.

Thank you for your email and for your interest in the visiting the Juno Beach Centre.
If you are interested in a tour to the Juno Beach Centre and extending into the Juno sector including transportation, I suggest you inquire with one of the tour companies listed on our website (undering the headings Tourist Information -- guided tours of D-Day and the Battle of Normandy sites). Notably, Normandy Siteseeing Tours or ACSM as they can provide pick-ups from the cruise docks.
I hope this information has been helpful and I remain at your disposal should you require any additional information.
