Loved the way this castle was periodically modified to keep up with changing weapons technology we swept through the courtyards and salons to see the remains of medieval frescoes.

This is a huge castle set in the old part of Barletta city overlooking the sea. It has been wonderfully maintained, full of old manuscripts, stone relics and artworks. There is an amazing subterranean area with a natural ‘soundbox’ in one room. Don’t miss this!

it is a castle, but mostly used for exhibitions. impressive from outside but not so much inside. views from castle towards sea is of industrial port. town itself was the least impressive I saw in my stay in Puglia.

Had the chance to discover this beautiful castle/fortress and it was in the evening. The special illumination casted such lovely lights all over.

Only visited the castle from the outside as it was closed the day we were in Barletta but it is a tremendously impressive structure.

It is a museum and art gallery inside, which we were sorry we missed, but we were still impressed by the outside and glad we saw it!

If you love history and art than you will definitely not regret visiting this castle.
Nicely organised exposition of pictures, paintings and the furniture and all within a very suggestive walls full of history.

We walked along the beach from our hotel to Castle. Castle admission is reasonable and view from castle is breath taking. They are not open 7days. I can't remember which day is close....so better check before you visit castle. My friends couldn't get to see.

When you are in barletta and you visit the city centre, you will notice, as in all italian cities a fusion of history and modernism. The castello is a stop in the history within the modern vibs of the city.

Not only is this one of the great Federican castles of the area (well-preserved/restored, sensationally large) it is so much more than a collection of walls. It hosts the local art museum (art made by people from Barletta, or art made in Barletta) and that's a fine fine little museum with works from every period after 1400. On top of that there was a temporary exhibition about Hannibal's journey (that ended close to Barletta) that was really interesting.

We arrived on the 4th of May to be told that the inside is under renovations and won't be open for maybe another month. So we just strolled around the outside.
