About
Together with the lake, one of the characteristic elements of the Garda Trentino landscape is the rock of Arco, dominating the plain of the River Sarca at the point where it widens. Three paths lead to the castle, which was the residence of the Arco Counts in the Middle Ages; they all leave the village and wind through the olive groves in the hills to reach the castle in a few minutes. Beyond the last town-wall is the Prato della Lizza, a green balcony overlooking the Garda Trentino territory at the foot of the three enormous sides of the Torre Grande, the Prigione del Sasso and Sala degli Affreschi, beautifully frescoed with scenes of games of draughts and battles. At the top, the last refuge in the event of siege, stands the Torre Renghera, whose bell, known as the "renga", called the farmfolk to prayer.

Nice view on Arco
Sep 2020
Went up with the MTB whitch is a hard climb, nice views on Arco when you do. Castle is a ruin where you can walk around. Didn't like the way at de ticket paystand, you musted have a mask but staff at desk doesn't any, not friendly at all. The castle is mostly interesting for me for the views and you can walk around. In the inner ground the staff is very friendly btw.
So liked the views but would like to see with the knowledge that they restoured a bit more.

What a view!

Nice (if somewhat steep) walk up from the village of Arco, and what beautiful views from the top! Really enjoyed this even though we only had one hour of time.

Steep climb with rewarding views
Sep 2019
Climbing through the narrow streets of the old town and a very steep paved path you reach the castle in about 30 minutes. Not good if you have any mobility issues. Signage is a bit unclear in the town to find the best way up hence 4 stars. Entry is Euro 3.5 which is excellent value. The castle is well worth a visit with good information and a video (in English) although most of the buildings are just shells. Fascinating history. Of course, the views in all directions are superb, it’s a long way down!

The Castle on The Hill
Aug 2019
The castle dominates the backdrop of Arco. Seeing it from below just makes you want to climb it. You start in the tiny cobbled streets before walking through olive groves. Midway there is a big grassy area with a welcome bar. Entrance to the castle keep and tower is 6Euros. The climb then gets steeper so good shoes are a must. Once you get to the very top you are rewarded with views across both side of the valley. There are seats to stop and rest and vantage points for keen photographers to get stunning shots.. It's well sign posted with facts and info plus a short video telling the tale of the Arco family. Well worth a visit.

Must see
Jul 2019
If you plan to take good pics, go as early as you can (people standing and don’t get it if there is a photograher...) Wear good shoes. Guy at the entrance is helpful. There are some ways to get to the castle. Trust these signs to the way up, sometimes it seems your are on private property, but it is not... Some „staircases“ on this rock are tricky, elders have problems way up and down...

Must see old rocks in the Garda Lake area
Aug 2019 • Couples
We took a walk from Riva del Garda to Arco without any specific program. When we got to Arco we decided to see some obligatory "Old rocks" on our sommer vacation trip in the Garda Lake. This was nice attraction and very well cared for. From the hill there were nice and exciting sceneries. Hill is quite steep and in some places rocky in the castle, not really suitable for small children sitting in trolleys or people with bad physical condition or with weak legs.

Spectacular views!
Aug 2019 • Family
Scenic walk, beautifully laid out for climb up to castle. Plenty of resting points and great views of Arco and beyond. Castle itself is steeped in history, English translations on every board. Great little cafe also, handy for a cold drink and a bite to eat if you are unprepared... Stunning 360' views from top. Well worth a visit, and great value for money.
