The place has the air of a garden center as you pull into the car park. It’s only €8 to get in and while it’s not huge, it was full of colour when we visited in late June. Lots of the flowers, shrubs and trees are labelled and the gardens are divided into different departments.

The best bit is the water garden. A large pond area beautifully carpeted in various water lilies, upon which many frogs sit and call out to their mates in a cacophony of song. Lots of damson and dragon flies flit around the water adding vibrancy.

On the way out there’s a rock (geology) museum …. I know, sounds dull, but go inside and you’ll be blown away by the exhibits!

Highly recommend.

Spent an enjoyable 2+ hours wandering around the gardens. More of an arboretum than a botanic garden in a traditional sense, but lovely and peaceful. Lake at far corner of the garden makes for a beautiful stopping point halfway round.

This is a large garden 4.5 ha, with a great collection of plants from the west of France as well as from other countries. There is an amazing aquatic garden, a very large pond with frogs and clumps of beautiful irises. We missed the rhododendrons as we visited in mid June. The whole garden is well planned and has a calm relaxed atmosphere. There is also a mineral museum showing 1200 beautiful crystals well worth the visit.

The Parc Botanique is a marvelous low key botanical garden with endless examples of azeleas and rhododendrons that love the soil of Brittany. I have never visited and found the park overcrowded, even in summer. This allows the visitor the pleasures of strolling the grounds at one's leisure, exploring the different themed areas of the park.
If you go in late May or early June, the rhodies and azeleas are at their peak. You are sure to see varieties you didn't know existed.
There is also an aquatic garden with a chorus of very vocal frogs, fun if you are visiting with children.
There is a garden shop with a good variety of plants at reasonable prices, some of which you will have enjoyed seeing in the park.

Well sign posted, just off the main road. Looks like a garden centre - but they do sell plants as well. In May, the rhododendrons were in full bloom - and there's loads of them. They have a small lake which is full of frogs, definitely worth a couple of hours to wander around.

Lovely quiet gardens. Beautiful hydrangea and acer specimens. The kids loved running around and hiding while we strolled in peace.

We visited quite late in the day around 5.30pm - it's a great idea that the gardens stay open until 7pm when the days are hot but in hindsight I would have liked a bit more time to walk around the park and then visit the garden centre.

At first I was a little disappointed..... the initial area just inside the entrance was quite striking and then for a few metres it seemed a bit dull and unloved. However that was the smallest area and from there onwards it was very inspiring. Unfortunately all the exotic looking plants and trees that I loved will probably not grow in my garden but still, it was good to get the imagination going!

These gardens show plants from many different regions of the world in a tranquil and delightful setting.

There is also a wonderful aquatic garden, complete with entertaining frogs jumping amongst the lily pads whilst sharing their loud choral singing, which covers a large area showing a good variety of plants.

A warm welcome from the staff, who speak some English, and a nursery stocked with the plants that you actually see in the garden for sale!

Highly recommended if you are visiting the area. Please allow at least 90 minutes to make the most of what they can offer.

Do take your own refreshments. Toilets are clean.

Beautiful gardens with an impressive gem stone collection. Prefect for relaxing with family on a sunny day. Highlight was the lake teeming with wildlife and simply gorgeously landscaped.

We have been coming to Bénodet for several years now but had never visited this garden, so on this visit we did. It is a large, private botanical garden with a wealth of trees, shrubs and plants - especially large collection of maples from North America. there is even a Redwood from my home state of California. We visited in August and most of the flowers had already bloomed, so we will have to visit again in the Spring. The rock and mineral 'museum' is really just a room with a large collection - interesting to rockhounds I guess. Entry was eight euros per person. There is an adjacent nursery where you can purchase plants.
