Beautiful

Beautiful gardens with an impressive gem stone collection. Prefect for relaxing with family on a sunny day. Highlight was the lake teeming with wildlife and simply gorgeously landscaped.

Pretty Botanical Garden to Visit if in the Area
Aug 2019
We have been coming to Bénodet for several years now but had never visited this garden, so on this visit we did. It is a large, private botanical garden with a wealth of trees, shrubs and plants - especially large collection of maples from North America. there is even a Redwood from my home state of California. We visited in August and most of the flowers had already bloomed, so we will have to visit again in the Spring. The rock and mineral 'museum' is really just a room with a large collection - interesting to rockhounds I guess. Entry was eight euros per person. There is an adjacent nursery where you can purchase plants.

Peaceful and beautiful!
Sep 2018 • Family
In September many of the fancy flowers are finished, but there are still lots of flowers to see. The terrain is gorgeous and the variety enormous, from the bamboo forest to the lake and variety of aquatic plants, including carnivorous sundews and pitcher plants. And enormous plants with 3' diameter leaves. The park represents the life work of a man dedicated to trees and flowers. We went around the corner to have lunch at the town picnic tables, and then came back for more! The geologic museum has some lovely stones, more a lovely collection than a scientific study, although there is explanation of the particular geology of Brittany.

Lovely peaceful retreat
Jul 2018 • Couples
This is a lovely garden sectioned off into different themes. It does have a lot of hydrangeas and rhododendrons as well as a large lake. If you like photography, there are plenty of opportunities for creative pictures. There is also a small genstone museum on the same site.

Picturesque garden near benodet

Well worth a visit! We enjoyed the garden particularly the aquatic garden! One of the best ponds we have visited! Lovely setting to eat a peaceful lunch. Purchased some plants from nursery! Hoping they will flourish in Cornwall. We would visit again!

Fine collection of trees and shrubs but pick your time to visit
Sep 2017 • Couples
The gardens are probably best in spring when the large collection of camellias and rhododendrons are in flower or later in autumn for the colour of the maples but in mid September there was not a lot to see. Pleasant place to walk round and to try and imagine what it must look like !

Beautiful gardens of interest to all ages
Aug 2017 • Family
We visited here whilst on holiday. Our party consisted of a grandma who loves gardening, parents who run a garden design and maintenance business and three children of 11, 7 and 2. The gardens have much to interest the plant lovers in our party, the children loved the lake with fish and frogs popping up and its small area of carnivorous plants and the various little side paths for them to explore.

Extensive, lush gardens with plentiful shade on a hot day
Jul 2017 • Couples
We spend much of our time in the U.K. visiting gardens, not so much in France. On a hot, humid July day, on an excursion to Pont Abbe and Benodet, we happened upon this one and were glad we did. The gardens are extensive, varied and lush, with lots of welcome shade. I would like to go back when the rhododendrons, azaleas and magnolias are at their peak - it must be magnificent.

I do love a botanic garden!
Sep 2016 • Couples
We visited quite late in the day around 5.30pm - it's a great idea that the gardens stay open until 7pm when the days are hot but in hindsight I would have liked a bit more time to walk around the park and then visit the garden centre.

At first I was a little disappointed..... the initial area just inside the entrance was quite striking and then for a few metres it seemed a bit dull and unloved. However that was the smallest area and from there onwards it was very inspiring. Unfortunately all the exotic looking plants and trees that I loved will probably not grow in my garden but still, it was good to get the imagination going!
