Wonderful place to spend the afternoon, the morning or the night. Full of restaurants, cafes and shops. La Porxada tells us about her story. It is magical and unique. If you come to Granollers, it is a mandatory stop.

Tripadvisor : are these reviews for real? It seems they have been submitted by the locals or local, as the narrative is very similar.

The construction in the center of the square is a historical monument. There are several bars with a terrace in the square and there's usually something happening every Saturday (from a market to concerts). I'ts an OK place to have something to drink or eat, but logically a bit expensive.

Just of the "official" downtown this area is wonderful for a stroll. If you're lucky and catch a fair day you'll find the area full of stalls selling just about anything you can imagine (however DO shop around for prices and quality).

If you visit it on Thursday morning you will enjoy the popular street market with fruit, clothes and everything you may imagibe. The french style building dated from XVI, is world heritage and has survived the Spanish civil war, when Italian fascists bombed it killing people who were in the market. There is also a legend about the stone placed in one corner: "la pedra encantada", the enchanted stone where historians tell that people "chanted" the prices of the grain. Nowadays you can walk peacefully among locals and children who learn to walk in the square.

La Porxada is a must if you are passing by Granollers. It is a wonderful place to go have tapas, a coffee, and/or quality ice-creams. The little streets which lead to this 'plaza' are filled with gourmet, fashion and delicacy shops.

Most towns had one of these, this one has survived, although it has been re built a few times due to damage.

In the center of the town, surrounded by shops and coffee stops.

It's a lovely open space and has quite a few nice bars and coffee shops surrounding the main structure of Granollers.
In the afternoons the area is full of shoppers and kids.
It's nice to take a break and watch the locals go about their daily life.
