I work in the luxury travel industry in the UK and so have been lucky enough to visit many wonderful destinations and points of interest over the years. Tours can be a bit hit and miss. They rely heavily of course on the subject matter itself, but moreover on the guide. There can be no doubt that the Plitvice National Park is a sight for sore eyes. It soothes the soul and reminds you that there is far more to life than selfies, tweeting, snapchatting, influencing and all manner of other modern day claptrap. Had Steve and I embarked upon this tour without our guide we would have been impressed and awed by the lakes, waterfalls, cascades, petrified trees. What we wouldn't have been is educated! Our guide Andrija is obviously incredibly passionate and enthusiastic about life in general. In immaculate English and with great humour he provided us with an in depth insight into how and why the lakes came about (both myth and fact!) and the science behind the processes, The five hour tour seemed to fly by and I barely noticed the 13,000+ steps (many uphill) which Andrija reassured me I had completed! Andrija was also able to answer questions on all aspects of Croatian history and culture. We wanted to pack him in our suitcase and take him with us on our onwards journey down to Split and Dubrovnik. In case you haven't picked up on this, I highly recommend Degenija Tours. Ask for Andrija! P.S. Nice wheels!
