Unexpected treat.

Just happened upon a stony, quaint indoor market visiting Aberdare over the weekend. Took me back to being a kid. Was only killing time really but those markets really are something nostalgic and special. Friendly, cheery folk with market banter and community spirit. Loved it. I thought they'd be only too happy to have someone write a testimonial while I had a lunchtime beer. I'd forgot the huge range of stuff these markets shift. Every variety of stall under the winter sun with smashing prices. Yay! Quite festive too.

Great market
Sep 2020 • Family
There are a variety of stalls at the market and whilst there we bought various Welsh cakes, some cheese and a variety of meat from the butcher's (sausages, bacon and diced beef). All of the products were of great qualify and we're fresh. We had a hot chocolate at the cafe before heading into town. At the town we browsed the local shops and bought trinkets (stocking fillers) ready for Christmas.

WE ARE OPEN!

The market is open and as usual, is spotlessly clean with appropriate social distancing measures in place. All the businesses are waiting for customers to come back; you will be welcomed with huge warmth, smiles and virtual hugs! The last 3 months have been incredibly tough for all these guys so please head to this little gem and support your local business. Bought a lovely leather purse and some Earth Spirit sandals at the Shoe and Bag Shop x

We shall now go there regularly, hasving solved the problem of where to park. In the winter we shall go there by train - 2 minutes from the station.

I live in Aberdare and wish I could rate the market higher but in all honesty I can't. There is not really that much there, a couple of stalls selling meat/ham/bacon which are OK. Two fruit and veg pitches which are actually good and I buy there a couple of times a week as the produce is well priced and better quality than the local Tesco or Asda superstores. If your into knitting there is a wool shop, I don't knit so can't really comment. There is a second hand record stall so if your into your vinyl records its worth popping in, that said its not been open in a while so not sure whats going on there.

There is a computer store, model figure store and a shop selling discount price cakes and biscuits. The best pitch in the market is the Welsh Cake stall, really lovely fresh made Welsh cakes which I always buy when I pop in for fruit and vegetables...go and treat yourself, you won't be disappointed.

Now the bad side. Its opening hours are just completely out of sync with the modern shopper. It opens at 09:00 and is closed by 17:00 with some stalls closing earlier plus they only open on a Sunday in the run up to Christmas. This market should be a real gem for Aberdare but sadly its not.

There are some other stalls but I'll leave those for you to find. If your in town its worth popping in and if nothing else have a coffee or bite to eat in one of the cafes operating there.

Great market. Quirky stalls and friendly stall holders. But of everything. Welsh cake stall is amazing. A must if you are in the area

Thriving market.

It was lovely to see an indoor market. It sells food, and clothing and shoes and baby things, and nick nacks. It is what one expects of a market. South Wales has other indoor markets too. I liked the mis-shaped biscuit stall.

Once again a beautiful stress free walk through our magnificent 49 acre park. The sound of traffic soon fades away and the walk around the lake lets you know what priorities are important in life
