'Beautiful area too visit'
Sep 2021 • Family
This is a wonderful place to visit for the day or longer..
There is a vast area to explore in the countryside..
Either walking or biking..
If you don't have your own bike then there is a hire facility area which also has a small cafe for drinks / cakes and snacks.
There is also a larger cafe next to main carpark for main meals..
Lovely childrens play area at this site too..
If you have campervan/ motorhome or tent, there is an area here for you too stay..
EHU/ WATER../ exceptionally clean toilet & shower block, with a utility room for washing clothes.
Nearby is a ponytrek riding stables if that's something you would like too do..
If you have a car and want to stay overnight, then no problem, this place has accommodation facilities fir you aswell..
Run by Rhondda Cynon Taff local authority..
If nature is you thing, fresh air, beautiful scenery, then I suggest you consider visiting here..

Very large country park set on grounds of 5 collieries.
Aug 2021
Holidaying couple looking for an interesting walk.
As it's August, and school holidays, car park was a little busy. Had to wait a minute or so to park(free).
Park is set in what was a valley containing 5 collieries. The collieries have long been demolished, the valley reclaimed somewhat. There are multiple roads, trails, paths to explore.
We throughly enjoyed our visit to this very well kept park.
We'll done Rhondda cynon Taff council

Much better than expected

Knowing that the park was created from old coal scared landscape, I was not expecting anything amazing. However, it is a beautiful place, which we nearly couldn’t find as the post code given was incorrect and we ended up in a pleasant little one way street . The correct postcode to bring you to the main entrance is CF44 7 PS. We were able to park easily and had a coffee from the cafe before going into the Information Centre, where we collected a map with the recommended walking routes. We walked for about an hour and forty minutes, seeing two new lakes, a long waterfall, the cascade, and enjoying the views. This is a great place for dog walkers, and as there are plenty of proper paths, there were a good number of families with bikes and scooters. There are some great adventure playgrounds, if you have children with you.A picnic on the grass completed our visit. The transformation was brought about by the EU and a Welsh agency, who have done a really good job.

So happy to have stayed at hotel here
Aug 2021
Just back from a lovely weekend at Dare Valley Country Park. There were 10 of us for a long overdue family reunion. Two children aged 8 and 3 absolutely loved the fabulous play park and BMX track.
Accommodation was clean and functional and run by Gavin very efficiently. We had 5 adjacent rooms with bunk beds.
We were surprised at how fabulous the cafe on site is. It's called Black Rock Cafe, CF44 7RG. It's really worth a visit. The choice of food is excellent and cooked to a very high standard. Prices were very reasonable indeed. You can buy alcohol. My son is vegan and was thrilled with the choices and quality on offer.
There are lovely walks to do up in the hills or on the flat.
If you stay at the hotel there is a lovely lounge with comfy settees, Wii with loads of games, big tv with wide selection of dvds and lots of board games.

A great, reasonably priced family stay.

A superb stay. Accomodation was bright, clean and functional with comfortable bunks (including a double). On site manager was friendly and approachable. Spacious communal lounge with Wii and large TV, with a good range of games and DVDs for wet days and to keep the kids amused.

Great play park on site as well as stunning walks. Cafe on site serving superb meals, fully licenced and more like a restaurant really. Excellent location for trips around South Wales.

Highly recommended.

Fantastic spot for fresh air, play and fab food

Just returned from fantastic family day out at Dare Valley Country Park. Parking was easy and free, toilets were clean, cafe friendly and fast with inexpensive, delicious food. Kids really enjoyed the play areas near car park, then we walked the yellow trail which felt like a proper walk, perfect for me and kids (aged 6 to 14) despite rain showers. Muddy in places, we were in trainers but walking boots would prob have been better option.

After almost tumbling down a massive mountain with a breath taking view and almost dying I can finally write my review about the infamous country park. I would say it has one of the best places to walk in the whole of RCT. Everyone knows me there as Mr. Tumble since I love rolling down mountains. The stay there was very warm and welcoming. I do recommend going!!!!!!
