We drove by the chateau twice before we noticed it - could be signed posted a bit better! On paying 10 euro each what a sight to behold it was breath taking as you walked down the avenue of trees to the bridge over the moat. The guides were very good and knew their stuff. The gardens were a delight,... More

10€ buys you a guided tour of the chateau and free rein in the gardens, while 6€ will get you into the gardens alone. Guided tours last about an hour and are given by students who are enthusiastic and know their stuff. The chateau is still inhabited, but you get to see enough of the 17th and 19th century apartments... More

If you are on a 'chateau tour' in Burgundy this one should be on your list. It's beautiful inside and outside and gardens are quite lovely. Guided tours only! It seems they are all in French but they give you a booklet in English and will answer questions in English as well.

Visited here with friends, very nice chateau and gardens well worth a visit. Had a guided tour, tour guide only spoke French but did have English txt that you can read from. We was lucky as our friend speaks fluent French who translated as well

It's interesting to see how different cultures preserve and value their ancient and historical buildings. It wasn't quite to National Trust standards but it was very relaxed and the staff were helpful and chatted in english when some of the more technical language defeated us. If you're doing the tour there are booklets in different languages which were helpful. The... More

Visited Cormatin on our way from Cluny to Brancion and it's a good place to pass an hour or so. The gardens are lovely and there is a well-kept maze; there are a few rooms you can look at yourself but they are not historic and rather gloomy; with the guide you can visit the apartments from the time when... This tiny estate had been bought and renovated by a team of three French art lovers. The story behind their survey and finally purchased this chateau is worth noting. However their effort and resources poured into renovating this chateau is even more amazing. Starting with the exterior of the chateau which look simple enough however the interior pack the beauty... This is one of the major sights in Burgundy - and if chateaux are one of your enthusiasms this is one you must do. And if they are not it is probably still a good place to visit. It is lovely to look at and really interesting. But the guiding leaves something to be desired. Given the number of international... More

set in a small town that had restaurant across the street. Arrived at lunch time when, like here, many venues close. Pizza and wine across the street great. Then toured chateau and grounds, very pretty, moats around it and is still original from 16th century

Definitely worth a visit, the tour is interesting and the knowledge of the guides good. A spattering of French helps but there are booklets for those who don't speak French. Beautiful inside and difficult to grasp that this place nearly ended up ruined had it not been saved. The storks nest on one of the chimneys is fab - bring... More
