La Estrella is perfectly located near the surrounding resorts and offers many little souvenirs for travellers. It is cheap. Kiosks change everyday so don’t wait if you find something. You will find restaurants and cafés ($) and entertainment (bowling, spa, shows). It might need a little spruce , but it does the job!

This is a nice little market to visit and spend a few hours away from your resort. With plenty of shops and restaurants to keep you entertained.

It's a bit like a film set, and built solely for tourists, but still a reasonable way to spend an hour or two away from your resort. Ours was close enough to walk. There are souvenirs to buy at not-too-outrageous prices, but not a huge selection. Several restaurants, a gym (closed when we visited) and even a bowling alley. We had a drink where we were serenaded by a couple of guys singing and playing.

Great selection on wood carvings and other little Knick knack souvenirs. Could use a better selection of tshirts. We found something for everyone on our list. The classic cars as taxis were a great addition to this site

We decided to get away from the resort for a few hours one afternoon and took a ride to Plaza Estrella in a 53 Caddy. Place was just okay. The view from the top of the tower was nice however be careful on the way up as many of the railings are broken or in poor condition. Many permanent shops were closed and temporary vendors had set up tables. Lots of these vendors were selling cigars and souvenirs. The cigars were displayed in the hot sun and not stored in a humidor which made me choose to not buy them In one of the shops we bought a 1 Litre bottle of 3 year old Havana Club rum. I thought the price seemed high at CUC$9.80 but attributed it to inflation. To our surprise and disappointment the same bottle of rum was selling for US$6.75 at the airport Duty Free shops. Even with the new pricing policies at the airports it was clear that we are ripped off since there is no "market pricing" for legally sold rum. I imagine that the same would have happened if we bought cigars too.
