We really enjoyed these unbelievable rock formations only 5 km from the heart of Tapalpa.
These rocks are up to about 100 ft in height. Some daredevils can actually climb these and there is a swinging bridge from one frock to another. Looks like on weekends they might have zip lining from one set of rocks to another.
Clearly a majestic site and well worth experiencing !

Mi kids enjoyed very much. It is nothing amazing but you will be between big rocks and nature. If you have an extra hour just do it! Please pick up trash. Some visitors are pigs!!!🐷🐷🐷

There is no tourist information to explain why the rocks are there or why they are big or how old they are. Nothing. It’s basically a chance to do some exercise, a lot of walking, and you can do horseback riding, zip line, and rappel. REMEMBER to wear sunblock and hats, you will find some stores with some souvenirs and food and beverage sale.

Tapalpa is a gorgeous little town a couple of hours from Guadalajara. This relaxed little town offers the perfect little getaway for young kids who will be able to run free.
Las Piedrotas offer a big wide open space for kids to run, jump and climb to their hearts content. We've hit it a couple of time midweek, and the place is empty. The horseback ride is worth it. I'd suggest taking a picnic and heading down to the rocks to hang, climb, relax and enjoy the views.

Wonderful views. You should not pay to go in. People ask for "cleaning money" I told them I pick up my own trash. ;-)

My family and I visited Las Piedtrotas in August 2019 and had a great time. The weather was perfect - a bluebird sky day. Enjoyed scrambling up and in between the rock formations, and we even took a short horseback ride around them for only 80 pesos a person! For those who are more adventurous, you can ride a zip line between the two tallest formations, or do a guided rock climbing/rappelling course - each for about 150 pesos per person. There are a half dozen or so snack shops/ice cream shops at the entrance to the formation and we enjoyed nieve de limón after exploring the rocks - delicious! Great place to take the kids for sure! I wrote about our entire trip to Tapalpa on my blog site, Mexpatmama if you are interested in learning more about this place.

Hola Ofelia
Si traes automóvil para desplazarte prácticamente no caminas nada y durante el recorrido en las Piedrotas no es muy pesado te recomiendo mucho el paseo incluso ahí rentan caballos
