We did the 4 hour deep sea fishing tour and went on the Luna Sea. The boat is really cool and big. The crew was nice too. Unfortunately, we didn't catch anything. We originally had a 4 hour morning tour booked, but we had to reschedule due to weather. So we rescheduled it and the only option available was an afternoon tour. (we wanted a morning tour). The boat was 2 stories and it had a bathroom, an indoor area, and they had drinks for us. It was kind of boring since it was a 4 hour boat ride, trolling at 8 knots, and we had no bites. They set out 6 lines with lures on them. They have outriggers on the lines so it puts the fishing line out further so they lines don't tangle. They had great fishing equipment and they have a harness you use to reel in the fish and they had a fishing chair to sit it. The best part of the tour was watching the sunset and seeing a bunch of dolphins swim by the boat. It would have been better if we had caught something.

It wasn't hot since the boat is constantly moving, but the sun is so hot and beams down on you the entire time. So make sure you bring your sunscreen and wear long sleeves if possible. They have towels on the boat and I eventually wrapped one around me so I wouldn't get burned.

What I do like about this company is, when you book a tour, they only book you. They do not book you with other people. So you get the whole boat to yourself and you get the option to catch the fish.

Hi Marissa, thank you so much for your great review. We are delighted to read it and so happy each time our passengers enjoy their fishing experience in Bora Bora with Bora Bora Sport Fishing. We would have be joyful too to catch fishing during this trip. But we have to remember that this is "fishing" ; we cannot guaranty the catch every day, even if our Captain does everything possible to make you take some fish. Sailing with us for 25 years now, he is well-known as one of the best fisherman in Bora Bora. We would be so glad to welcome you again in the future… :) Best regards,

We did the day trip to Taha'a along with fishing. Visited vanilla plantation, pearl farm, rum distillery as well as lunch. Tours were very informative and lunch was delicious with a local family. We dodged in the way back to bora bora. Crew were very nice and took care of everything. Cause a marlin along with another fish. Very enjoyable day!

Outing booked and paid for via tour operator 10 days ago.
The day before, it was impossible to ensure the planned afternoon outing.
They had to find a larger group for the day.
The Borabora Pearl resort was notified and found this unacceptable. A signed and paid contract must succeed.

Hi Peter, thank you for your review. We are very disappointed to read that you had such a bad experience. Our Captain is with us for 25 years now, and is so appreciated by all our guests, that often ask for for him specifically. He is probably one of the best local experts on sport fishing in Bora Bora. Our 4 boats are all 100% dedicated to the deep sea fishing activity, including Deluxe facilities that usually suits ideally to our passengers. By the way, we are the only company in Bora Bora with this service level. We always try to give the best possible experience to each passenger having a fishing trip with Bora Bora Sport Fishing. Would you travel in Bora Bora in the future, we would be sincerely happy to welcome you again and make you live a different, powerful and fulfilling fishing experience. Yours sincerely.

We booked the boat Luna Sea with 2 other couples we met. For $1250 6 hours. The review stated that the boat had a fishing chair, fly bridge, kitchen, bathroom and totally geared for fishing. They driver picked us up and dropped us off at the pier and what we got was a 3 seat cabin cruiser with none of the mentioned equipment. The boat was a fraction of what we were sold. Our disappointment was furthered by the fact that we had cancelled our other plans (dives etc) to go fishing. One of the couples had to return to the hotel as this "lesser than boat" only held 4 (and only if the 4th person stood all day) so the $1250 divided by 3 became $1250 divided by 2. I have fished all over the world and never had anything like this happen. My advice steer clear of this vendor...

Hi Dawn, thank you for your review. We are very disappointed to read that you had such a bad experience with us, and we would like to give you additional details. The booking for this fishing trip was made by our partner, Hôtel Sofitel in Bora Bora, and they booked for our boat "stripper 22feet" which is our smaller one, only dedicated to 4 persons. As you say, at the pick-up, 6 passengers were waiting. For security reasons, our Captain couldn't take on board more than the 4 scheduled passengers. We are sincerely sorry that the Hôtel booking service did not provide you with the right informations about the selected boat. They obviously have all our brochures, rates and detailed descriptions. We always try to give the best possible experience to each passenger having a fishing trip with Bora Bora Sport Fishing. Would you travel in Bora Bora in the future, we would be sincerely happy to welcome you again and make you live a pleasant and fulfilling fishing experience. Yours sincerely.

We booked the Luna Sea for 6 hours during our honeymoon trip to Bora Bora. We were really amped for this fishing trip and were hoping to catch a Marlin but interested in fishing for whatever was good at the time. The crew had no live bait and only use artificial lures which we were disappointed about. We trolled around for 6 hours and didn't even get a bite. We were pretty disappointed with the whole trip. We did see some wild dolphins at one point that chansed the boat. This is defnintely the risk you take when you go fishing but we expected to at least get something. We have taken trips out of Texas that use live bait and have always caught fish. At the end of the day they asked us to sign their guestbook. After reading all the comments in the book it seems like only a few people actually catch fish on their boat. I wouldn't recommend booking with them as the chance you don't catch anything seems to be pretty high and the cost is pretty steep. You may have better luck booking with a smaller boat.

Hi Meagan, thank you for sharing with us your disappointment. Please let us provide you further informations. In Sport Fishing, the rules and techniques recommend to use only artificial lures. Live Bait are used in other types of fishing. Moreover, our Captain, who is sailing with us for 25 years now, is well-known as one of the best fisherman in Bora Bora, and always do its best to let you catch some fish. As you, we are always joyful to catch fishing during a trip, but we have to remember that this is "fishing" ; we cannot guaranty the catch every day. We always try to give the best possible experience to each passenger having a fishing trip with Bora Bora Sport Fishing. Would you travel in Bora Bora in the future, we would be sincerely happy to welcome you again and make you live a different, powerful and fulfilling fishing experience. Yours sincerely.

I booked this trip via email months in advance and everything went well as planned. With no deposit, a car showed up to pick my wife and I up right on time to take us to Vaitape and aboard the Luna Sea. Our captain, Jordan, and his first mate, Robere, were very friendly...and probably the nicest people we met during our 9 day stay. Although Jordan was native to Bora Bora he spoke excellent English which increased our enjoyment of the trip, as while we were fishing he pointed out islands, fish, birds etc.
After a slow start we hooked a Blue Marlin, and Robere and the captain coached my wife into catching her first big gamefish.

When we returned to the dock they hoisted the fish and took pictures for/with us and offered to cut us steaks to have prepared back at our hotel. Easy payment by credit card, and our host even offered to let us stay downtown longer if we liked before returning us to our hotel.

The boat was large and comfortable, and stable on the seas. Beer and sodas were complimentary which we enjoyed on the way back to the dock. Although my wife originally wasn't too keen on the idea it turned out to be one of the highlights of her trip!

Honestly we were so excited about this excursion, we had planned it months in advance. As we boarded the boat you could already tell the captain and first mate were not in a good mood. Not only were we corrected constantly when we asked questions about the island we were told constantly this is a FISHING trip not a CATCHING trip. The captain played horrible music and the first mate complained about the island and his misfortunes. We had not a single bite but a boat ride, even when we spotted whales the captain would not turn the boat off so we could watch, he just kept on driving.
If you like to fish and have fished before DO NOT use this company it will ruin any positive ideas of fishing you may have.
