What an amazing exprience. Luciano is a trilingual and incredible guide. We had a multinational group and he flipped with ease between Portuguese, Spanish and English. He is friendly, knowledgeable, safe, fun and an amazing driver (most of the time you are bumping around on unpaved roads so a good driver is essential). He times your visits to key attractions perfectly to ensure minimal tourists, and knows the region like the back of his hand. Simone is your go to person to organise the trip and she is friendly and efficient. Seriously, Jalapao is an incredible place, insanely gorgeous waterfalls and pools, and landscapes that look and feel like a mythical land. Learning about the Quilombola villages was enlightening and is an important part of Brazilian history. I couldn't recommend Jalapao Extremo or Luciano as a guide enough.

I have booked this trip with a friend and we choose 5 days tour. It was so amazing that we would like to stay much longer and we are already planning to come back and will book with Jalapão Extremo again for sure! The guide was really amazing! Tony was always taking us to the places at the right time so we could get the best experience and feel immersed in this paradise. He was really patient to take a lot of pictures and even gave us a lot of hints so we can keep these amazing places views not just in our memories but in photos. We had a lot of fun with our group as well. it surpassed my expectations! Thank you Tony, Jalapão Extremo and group!

The 5-days tour in Jalapão in which I took part with a friend was amazing. It was on the top 3 nicest areas I visited during my 3-month trip through Brazil. Besides the amazing location, the other reason why we loved it was the great experience offered by Luciano, our tour guide. He's very talkative and down-to-earth, he made us feel comfortable very soon. He's a fast and good driver, he know all the holes of Jalapão by hard ahah. Everything planned ran smooth, the tour has a lot of driving involved but with a good company and great landscapes, you won't even feel the crazy holes on the ground :) The accommodations were good, especially the first 2 nights, in a pousada with jacuzzi and outdoor bar. Being in a jacuzzi at night in the middle of Brazil looking at the stars isn't something I was expecting in Jalapão. I'd definitely recommend Jalapão Extremo. I have no regrets. The price is high but I think is in line with the remoteness of the area and the service provided.

I used the WhatsApp number on the website to book the 5 day tour of Jalapão. Simone responded immediately and handled my unusual arrival time well. Luciano, our guide, met me at the airport at the right time, rare in Brazil (I've learned to expect to wait). He was part of our experience, and handled our diverse group extremely well (a young Brazilian couple, 2 Italian friends backpacking through South America, and myself). I often travel alone and the group can make or break a trip; in this case it really made all the difference that we were a small group, because the state of Tocantins is vast and we spent a lot of time together in the car. The 5 of us (plus Luciano) got to spend a lot of time talking to each other to pass the time (there is no cell service for most of the trip), and by the end we were all friends, ate our meals together, and some of us have already met afterwards in São Paulo. I think this is a big consideration to make when selecting your tour company. The tour includes 3 meals a day in the price, plus unlimited bottled water (this is HUGE!). I honestly didn't notice that the meals were included, but it makes sense, considering that there aren't town centers with restaurants (except for Mateiros, which has options). The downside of this is that towards the end the food feels repetitive, especially during the 2 nights in Mateiros, when we had dinner 2x in a row at the same restaurant. The hotel Pousada das Aguas is beyond what anyone could expect in such a remote location. Delicious dinner and breakfast, a full bar, swimming pool and Jacuzzi, and a masseuse in house. Our other stay was at the simpler but no less charming Pousada Cristal, which had the best breakfast food of the entire trip (house baked pastries). Ultimately I had no idea what to expect going in, and what Jalapão Extremo provides is exactly what you need: Hospitality, rugged comfort, and expertise in how to get to the locations (huge thanks to Luciano on this, he really knows his way, as I imagine all their guides must). - Our group opted for ALL the add-ons that the guide provides and they are all great (the Rafting company NOVAVENTURA is also worthy of mention for an excellent time!). Finally: a pair of Tevas (closed toe if you can), for all activities but especially Japonês Lagoa a small backpack to take with you on all trips (you'll want a place to put your camera, for instance) a flashlight that you can hang from your backpack or similar (even though the guides tell you just your cell phone light is enough, having your hands free for the night hike is way better) don't sweat the water

Jalapão is one of the most amazing scenarios I've ever visited. Still very unexplored compared to other similar sites in Brazil, I didn't expect to have such a nice experience overall. Jalapão Extremo counts on a differentiated team that works pretty well together, Simone is a great person and Diego is very committed to everyone's safety, the environment preservation, everyone's satisfaction and integration. The pousadas chosen are comfortable, clean and the trip plan very well organized and delivered. I can't imagine a better way to get to know this paradise.
