The museum displays the history of Aschach an der Donau, the ship-building and shipping tradition of the Danube and the fishing tradition of the area. The last wooden scow ever built is on display outside the museum. The museum is quite small, but the guide can tell you everything you ever wanted to know about these subjects. However, the guide only speaks german. If you want an english speaking guide, you should call in avance so they can find someone who speaks english, the museum is staffed by retired volunteers. The entrence fee is low, 3 € only. The museum is not really that fun for kids. However, if you are into fishing, boats, wooden crafts or history, the museum is well worth a visit!
