Like all other museums, Museum Beelden aan Zee is closed. There is however an interesting set of videos online around the exhibition and the sculptures or ‘making of’ to wet your appetite. I am very much looking forward to a possible physical opening later this month and the expected Mittoraj exhibition later this year.

Sculptures exposed both indoors and outdoors, impressive collection and diversity of art works. Not all information is available in English, but there are options to search/google for additional info. Interesting documentary about this place runs on repeat in one of the visiting rooms - recommend it!

You have to book a time slot, but then stay as long as you like. There are several exhibitions in different parts of the museum. Igor Mitoraj is the main show, but Paul Gregoire's work, and Von den Steinen also are worthwhile seeing. Parts of the permanent collection and medals are also on display. I have repeated my visit of the Mitoraj sculptures: classical beauty, nostalgia. It is not to be missed.
And finally, there's good coffee and the weather permitting a dreamy terrace among sculptures Enjoy!

Great setting in the Scheveningen dunes. Very pleasant to visit the outdoors section on a sunny day. They had a fantastic special exhibition on their favorite sculptor, Igor Mitoraj. He also made the sculpture of the face visible outside in the dunes. Majestic, fantastic and hyper realistic at the same time.

We went there for the Tom Klaassen exhibition. Beautiful images. He makes images that are easily accessible to everyone. Everything is clearly arranged in a central hall. The building also has a room with preliminary studies in plaster by various artists. There is a modest restaurant with a limited choice. Furthermore, a permanent collection and a number of outdoor sculptures are needed.

This museum of sculpture is very worthwhile. This summer there will be an exhibition of work by Henry Moore. The outdoor terraces offer a view of the pier and the beach. There is also a cozy terrace for a good coffee, drink or sandwich and I sometimes find a birthday present for friends in the store.

In the rare event that you don’t like contemporary art and you even don’t like museums, just change your attitude for one time and go to the temporary exhibition The Rainbow Nation. There are sculptures exhibited inside the Museum Beelden aan Zee (Museum Sculptures at Sea) in The Hague / Scheveningen and outside at several locations in The Hague, mainly at the Lange Voorhout in front of Escher in Het Paleis (Escher in the Palace) and near the American Embassy.
This summer The Hague is hosting the exhibition ‘The Rainbow Nation’ with contemporary sculpture from South Africa. With more than 50 sculptures by the major South African artists of the past 60 years from 29 May till 10 September 2012 at the Lange Voorhout and from 8 June till 1 October in Museum Beelden aan Zee.
Nelson Mandela International Day will be celebrated in The Hague on Wednesday, 18 July with the unveiling of the Nelson Mandela monument by Dutch sculptor Arie Schippers. The Hague Sculpture and Museum Beelden aan Zee are using this occasion to organize the extensive summer exhibition ‘The Rainbow Nation: Contemporary sculpture from South Africa’.
Follow the development of South African sculpture over the past 60 years, from the dark days of apartheid via the freedom gained in 1994, when Mandela was elected president during the first elections for all races, to the current period of transformation.
You will be flabbergasted and being amazed by the beautiful diversity of this collection from all kind of different objects exhibited. This outstanding exhibition is really worth visiting; at least we did enjoy it and recommend it to visitors from all over the world!

Visited this beach side museum on a lovely sunny day. The exhibition was very enjoyable and the staff friendly and knowledgeable, eager to share the background of the art. Actually quite a few impressive pieces. The outside sculptures based on fairy tales are great and full of details where you see more and more as you look. Seeing children having a great time playing and climbing the sculptures and adults enjoying themselves as well as they take in the art is a great and rare mix. Cherry on top was being on the beach on a beautiful autumn day

This museum which enjoys a beautiful location near the beach offers different exhibitions through the year, and all of good quality. Also, the "Fairy Tale Sculptures by the Sea", a collection of Bronze sculptures on the boulevard side should not be missed, and is free.

The museum is situated just next to the Scheveningen Beach and offers several interesting exhibitions - some outside with a fantastic ocean view. Highly recommended.
