It's amazing how many people from so many different countries and coming here for so many years! Shockingly large amount of crosses are there and it seems people are bringing those for various reasons-birth, christening, wedding, in memory of loved ones.... In few words: words going!

Once your are in Baltics or Lithuania you have to see it. I really looked forward to this and all I expect fulfilled. You just must see that. 100 000 crosses or maybe more, this place is experience. I understand why this place was and is so important for Lithuanian people. We got there from bus station, it takes like... More

Siaullai is a small quiet town which is in Northern Lithuania and was visited by Pope John II in 1993. It is a peaceful place with 100000 crosses. IT Is believed that relatives of victims put crosses for their dead but the Tsar government did not permit them to honour the dead and broke and burnt the crosses including the... More

A weird but interesting place which gathers people from all over the world. Several big and different looking Christ depictions carved in wood. Can become a bit crowded though and after a while everything starts to look the same.

Can't decide if it was more interesting or weird experience. Since I'm not religious, it was not a "pilgrimage" for me or anything to do with religion but yet something I have never seen before. The place has definitely a specific vibe. It kinda felt like being on a cemetery but different... The hill of crosses is basically in the... More

Needs to be seen. Photos don't do it justice. Quite a special place. 10km north of Siauliai. Just over 1 km from the main road. (Signposted) You can buy crosses (starting at €1) to add to the 200,000 already there!

We took the train out of Vilnius, which we felt would be easier than taking the coach out of Riga (another route). Once off the train (it took 2 hours 10 mins), we found the easiest way to attend the hill was in a taxi. We went in taxi which we asked a local restaurant to call for us after... More
