We visited here on a cruise excursion. Beautiful area with stunning scenery. The lake is very pretty with lots of good viewpoints along the surrounding roads. Be sure to stop off at one of the bars in the nearby towns to try the Corsica specialty beer Pietre

What a beautiful place. The lake is a hidden gem in the middle of a valley at about 600 meters altitude, east of Ajaccio. The water is refreshing and clean. It even offers a canoe and boat rental, and as well two low key but real nice restaurants.

A really nice spot just an hour or so from Ajaccio. Quiet and nice, with opportunities to do water activities. Lunch is available there also, or bring your own. The trip itself to get there is magic and breathtaking. Take your time getting there and drive safely! :-)

Nothing open except the view. The drive from Ajaccio is about an hour and the mountains and gorges are stunning. In May the Marquis with all the flowers are out and gorgeous. Just before Tolla is the Col de Mercujo with a Belvedere and fabulous views to the sea and to the lake (reservoir). There is some parking and it's only about 100 metres to walk along a good path to get these million dollar views. The aspect also gives you a good look at the turns in the road you have just come up. Worth going on to the sleepy village of Tolla for a different view of the lake. You can also access the lake from below the village. A wonderful morning of beautiful Corsican countryside. In summer with cafes and water sports it must be great also.

We went here in mid-May and sadly it was all still closed. We couldn't even find a nice place to sit and have a break or pick-nick next to the lake. The lake itself looked beautiful and I wish we could have spent some time there and went canoeing.

The drive to get to the lake is also stunning, though if you come from the east side and surround the lake in the north it can be quite frightening as the roads are super narrow (1 car width) and very high up.

You should visit this lake if you stay in Ajaccio. Breathtaking views, good opportunities to rent kayaks and pedal boats. There are also a few nice places to eat right by the lake.

The drive in this mountainous area of Corsica is amazing, the views are fantastic, the numerous shades of green and the dazzling colors of the flowers are great, and then out of nowhere you get a first glimpse of the lake. It is a man made lake formed by a dam, but still it is beautiful.
One can have several nice views of the lake from the town of Tolla, and there is also an option to drive down to the dam which to itself is very nice, especially the gorge that spills out from it.
It is certainly worth the difficult drive

We drove up to Tolla from Ajaccio. It takes about an hour but the views are worth it. Because we are here in winter (February), nothing is open so we didn't do down to the lake, but just driving up the mountain and taking in the scenery was worth the effort. Just take it easy both ways and make sure to pick a sunny day.

A wonderful place nestled in the rolling hills of Corsica. Very easy to do a day trip from Ajaccio (1-1.5 hours by car). Nice also to rent the pedalos, but do book in advance! Water tends to be a lot colder than the sea.

Took a coach tour around the island, which has some stunning scenery almost prehistoric in appearance. We visited a local forest which has some stunning views over the lake of Tolla and surrounding areas. Not a trip for anyone who does not like heights. The roads have steep drops and are in places very narrow, only wide enough for one vehicle. Our coach driver showed great skill. We stopped at a local " bee farm" where we tried many local honeys which was very enjoyable. The day was spoilt by the very poor air conditioning in the coach, with temperatures in the high thirties, many people on the coach were really struggling with the heat. Only coach tour during our two week holiday where we were feeling very uncomfortable
