Really nice church that's very open and welcoming. Has a lovely section detailing the history of the church/christianity/Minster in Dewsbury.

The main church hall is nothing special most of the year but at Christmas it has a Christmas Tree Festival which, for the last 2 years, my (very) young Granddaughter has absolutely loved (and I enjoyed it too).

The refectory cafe is fine and serves food at competitive prices and there usually local jams and chutney's (plus religious artefacts) available in the small shop area by reception.

Toilets available too.

I like coming here, it can be interesting or quiet or social it houses one of the oldest carvings of Christ I believe. there is a private prayer area upstairs walk through the museum bit to get there. a nice café which not only serves a fine cuppa and a bun but also benefits the community. please do look at the window, they are lovely

I have visited this place many times with my family and never been dissapointed!! It is a peaceful oasis in the middle of Dewsbury. There is also a small gift shop and cafe which my wife particularly enjoys...

My previous review was censored, but my opinion remains unaltered; it is a disgrace that what was once presumably a fine building has been carved up into a tacky giftshop and café and it is a disgrace that the tombstones in the churchyard are used as a car park.

The Minister shows much of the history of Dewsbury going back to St. Paulinus's visit in 627 AD. There is a refectory open mornings and lunchtimes for coffee. tea and light meals which has a good atmosphere. There is a car park although the one way street system can make it difficult to find by car.

The Minster at Dewsbury is not the largest we have visited but it is still worth stopping to visit if you are in the area. It is located at the edge of a very busy road junction in its own grounds. The building itself is lovely and inside the stained glass windows are really good.. There is a heritage shop and visitors are welcome throughout the week.

Dewsbury Minster notice the calm, warm, ambiance when entering through the lovely old door with the sneck that rattles as you pass through. First there are a number of items for sale in the shop area moving through there is an inner oak construction which houses the refreshment area, steps to the upper floor meeting area's, which are well used by many different organisations, also there is a lift. Also on the 1st floor there is a quiet reflective space which is wonderful, sadly, I cannot remember the name of this inner chapel, it is all part of the oak inner construction. When dining the menu changes daily but everything is freshly made with lots of choice from a light lunch to full meals, salads and sandwiches also home made cakes and sweets. The Minster is a very popular meeting place so going either early or later at lunch time can help to avoid the rush. All of the services are mainly carried out by volunteers who are helpful and knowledgeable. Well worth a visit.

Visited today with family and I am sure we will go again. It was extremely busy and I can certainly see why. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. We had a brief look around the visitors centre which seemed very interesting and I am sure you could spend all afternoon finding out all about the history of the church. Well worth a visit .
