This is a beautiful venue, it was quite a late service at 4 pm but worked well, plenty of nearby parking, excellent staff, and wasn't rushed to leave so ape time for the photos would definitely recommend for civil service.

Old Fashioned Charm
Sep 2018 • Couples
I reviewed this building for its potential as a wedding venue, on arrival, its obvious that there is limited parking, except for possibly around the rear, which if the case is a long way to walk back. I found the staff at the time, apart from reception, to be a little aloof, even though I'd made an appointment, not a good start. Anyway, the function room downstairs was impressive, as were the chambers upstairs, although a little small. The old council chambers were a good size and reflected an old era of the days of council meetings. Unfortunately, as the building is old, this is reflected in its maintenance, which if you can forgive it, is still nonetheless a grand place at certain angles, inside and out and good value too, if you should care to hire it.

Magnificent building

This is a very impressive looking building in the centre of town, really stands out from some of its less spectacular neighbours. A grade 2 listed building, it's one of the towns highlights.

Lovely private ceremony, with great staff who were helpful and friendly at each stage. The rooms were beautiful and we had lots of time to take photographs afterwards.

Thank you for your 5 star review. We're delighted to hear that you had such a special day! We have invested heavily in refurbishing the ceremony rooms, foyers and staircases to ensure the photographs offer perfect backdrops for your big day. Congratulations once again

Good Venue for a Wedding
Sep 2017 • Couples
We went to a wedding here in September, for both the ceremony itself and the reception. The building is lovely inside with wide staircases, stained glass windows and large reception rooms. Plenty of places for good wedding photo opportunities, especially if it is raining outside. The staff on duty for drinks and food were good. The ballroom is massive. Anyone who lives locally should consider this as a wedding venue. (They might look to upgrade the 'conveniences' but perhaps are limited to what can be done as it is a Grade II listed building.)

Dewsbury's most Iconic Building
Aug 2017 • Solo
Dewsbury's 'grade 2' listed town hall still looks as impressive today as it must of done when it was finally unveiled in 1889 at a cost of £40,000, construction began in 1886 from the plans drawn up by Dewsbury's renowned architects Henry Holtom & George Arthur Fox.
It's original function was to house all the civic workers needed for town planning🏘, sewerage🚽, highways🛣, lighting💡, schools🏢, police👮🏻& courts, merchant exchange, council chambers, concert🎭hall & mayoral proceedings.
Today it still hosts mayoral & civic events, there are still some local council services based there, but the main function seems to be hosting weddings 👰🏻, concerts, award 🥇ceremonies & other various events.
It's also the scene for filming many TV 📺 programs & films🎥& it's old courthouse has appeared in many programs & movies.
I've had the opportunity on numerous occasions to attend various events over the years at this beautiful old venue & always loved attending here so if your ever in Dewsbury definitely come & see the place for yourself.

A good Victorian Grade ll listed building finished in 1889
Apr 2017 • Solo
Dewsbury Town Hall looks as good now as it would have been in 1889 on the out side, inside looks pretty good too but could not look at the rooms l wanted to see / Old Court Room, Old part Police Station and other rooms. Best part for me was the second floor Hall and Staircase with it,s Stained Glass Windows

Grand Old Building

A grand old building redolent of more prosperous times in Dewbury. Somewhat spoiled by having a statue of a vomiting man in front of it.

Victorian Town Hall
Sep 2016 • Couples
We visited Dewsbury and found this lovely building near the old market place close to the centre. The building is Victorian and a historic town hall. It is also a place for concerts and there is a notice board outside with events coming up. We didn't get a chance to see inside but we walked around the outside and it is truly a lovely building. There is a car park close by too - pay & display.
