I travel to Kurunegala every year, and always stop by the Selyn showroom there. They have recently completely rearranged the display, and it looks great! Their trademark bright colours and fashionable clothing always find their way into my suitcase. And don´t miss a look at the weaving centre behind the showroom. You can hear the ´clackety clack´of the looms while inside..just ask to be shown out back!

Out of the many things we did and places we saw during our 2 weeks in Sri Lanka, the Selyn visit remains one of the strongest memories. The product designs are 'clean' and stylish, with great colours bringing the different fabrics to life. While there, my friends and I agreed that if you would set up the same store in stockholm it would all be sold in no time - clothing, fabrics, toys, decor - everything.
But great design and products is only a part of the story. The best part of it all was the visits to the weaving workshop and the dye plant, where we got to see how a social enterprise can have a real impact on the local community.
We were very impressed with Selyn - if you've got the chance to visit you should definitely go!

Selyn is a local handloom manufacturer and a retailer has won a reputation even among the international customers. Price are expensive due to their reputation. But mostly they are of good quality.

Some great cushion covers, furnishing fabrics, mats, table mat sets etc. Good necklaces, cheaper than Barefoot and shops beyond just Colombo or Galle.

Excellent quality handlooms. Availability of a range of clothing items and curios. A bit pricy but matches the quality offered.

I like the place, I like the story behind the brand, behind the people who started and engaged with this ethical and beautiful craft. Please, ask the shop managers to introduce you to the Selyn. Prices here are reasonable and the quality competitive with the rivals around.

A must stop on the way to Kandy!!
Great collection at reasonable prices with a lot of variety from toys to home decor to accessories to handwoven fabrics and clothing.
The interiors are just perfect to bring in the feeling of cultural richness of the island!!
And don’t forget to ask the sales staff to take you to the hand loom weaving workshop that is just behind the store.......
