An Interesting Local Museum
Aug 2018 • Couples
Your ticket to the castle ruins of Montsegur includes admission to this little museum down in the village of the same name. Most of the exhibits are to do with the siege of the castle 1243-44 and the Cathars. However, as with many other places of a similar nature in France, bear in mind that it closes for two hours at lunchtime.

The videos are worth watching
Aug 2018 • Friends
The museum cost is part of the castle ticket. The museum closes for lunch between 12:00-13:00 and is closed on Mondays. Interesting.

We didn’t realise the museum was closed on a Monday. Such a shame as we were looking forward to our visit following a recommendation. Next time...

Wonderful little museum.

Please try to visit the museum before attempting the climb. I speak French fluently, which was most helpful as, the video shown in the museum is in French. There is a nice collection of artefacts, which should appeal to everybody.

And added bonus to the Chateau
Oct 2017 • Family
We visited the museum after or walk up to the chateau. I was very impressed with the models, video displays, and artefacts contained within, and it made our trip better overall, being able to relate to the history. As mentioned already, entry to the museum is free if you purchase a pass for the Chateau.

a tribute to the Cathars

I've been to this small museum four times and am equally absorbed each visit. My only regret is that it has very little on the village through its own history. well worth the time and coins.

Cathar Museum
Sep 2017
After a walk up to the castle, and a lovely lunch in the village, a wander round this museum was very interesting.
The thought of what actually happened at this site is hard to imagine, although unfortunately quite true.

Small but interesting
Aug 2017 • Friends
We visited the museum after the castle and, although small, it has some very interesting artefacts - it makes the tragedy of the Cathars much more poignant.

Small and uninteresting
Aug 2016 • Couples
There was only a very tiny display in cases of some finds in the museum. It wasn't worth the entrance fee, unless you are really very bored or very enthusiastic about history.
