This statue of King Rama 1 on a War Elephant was always quite impressive but the addition of the circle of silver spires surrounding it makes this even more amazing and worthy of a visit.
Come at dusk for the best view and photos. From the Amari Buriram Hotel it was a quick GRAB to the traffic circle where this is located just south of downtown. Ask to be let out by the sidewalk on the southeast side of the traffic circle. this will put the setting sun in the background of your photos. Also this is where a crosswalk is painted on road leading to the statue. its gonna be dangerous to get across, consider that. so be very careful and quick if you’re going to attempt it.
good photos can be had where the GRAB dropped you off. Very cool site, just fantastic.
A wonderful local lady I use as a driver could also take you there.

She’s also an excellent tour guide, translator and negotiator, knows
the area well.

The circle road around the King Rama Monument is a daily horror for good Farang drivers. Because of many inexperienced Thais drivers. When they enter the circle, they stopped her car. You must be each time very careful and lucky do not to enter in such cars. A chance also, when nobody cut you when you get out... For all such reasons, I call the place "The King Chance Turn "...

We drove passed by during the night that the city had turned on the light at the stature and the photo came out very beautiful

Its quite impressive to see in person. You will find that it is also a favorite place for the local runners and joggers to run around.

An impressive statue which helps you to understand the history of the Country and the culture of the People. Be Aware of the traffic. Parking is possible near by.

We visited this monument and spent 1 hour admiring and taking photos as it is pretty much inviting, even climbing to have the great view of the city is amazing! The statue is very biig!!! Many locals come to pay respect to King Rama I and leave their small statues of sacred animals like elephants and donkeys in the surrounding areas of the monument. It's a very colorful place to visit, also with small lakes with fountains.

Well worth looking at.
Be careful crossing the road, very busy & very little parking due to where it is located.
Go at night as it is much more spectacular.

A little bit out of the city but still nearby. On an important intersection towards the I-mobile stadium and Buri Ram Castle.

in the middle of a roundabout sitting on a majestic Elephant. King Ram I, first king of the Chakri dynasty. The surrounding statues are as well worth looking at. Mythological animals. The side stella' s of this monument depict the king with his entourage. Parking is not easy to stop for the pictures. Best Beat us to drive in one of the many avenues that depart from this monument and walk a few meters (50-100) be careful, crossing is a challenge. Observe the traffic and the red lights, when one lane stops you have 5 seconds to move. Also very beautiful at night with colours

Unless the roads were blocked, there was no way to get there safely. A lot of locals paid respect to King Rama I. There was no parking lot. You had to park your vehicles on busy roads. It was dangerous to walk across the street to the monument. It's a nice monument, but very bad location.

Worth a visit to this large elephant/king monument. Located in center of city on a busy round about, so be careful crossing the road to get there. At night the lights make it look even better. Not much parking around monument, so best to park further away & walk to the monument.
