A really great experience
Sep 2019
This flight was a birthday gift which I thoroughly enjoyed. After having lunch in the lovely on-site restaurant, I registered in the office 15 minutes before the flight then drove round to the take-off point. The whole organisation is friendly and laid-back. After being introduced to the pilot he gave a short briefing, then into the glider (front seat) and after a few minutes we were hooked up to the tow-plane and quickly airborne. After being towed to the top of the ridge the line was released and we were on our own. Apart from the wind noise it's very quiet so you can communicate easily with the pilot who was very happy to answer questions while pointing out local landmarks. Unfortunately due to the fickle nature of the thermals we were unable to gain sufficient height to fly beyond the ridge, but this didn't detract from the experience and makes for a good reason to go back for another flight.
Towards the end of the flight I was given control for a while before it was time to return to earth.
I'll definitely be doing this again.

Acrobatic was fantastic
Aug 2019 • Family
This is the second time i have flown here. The first time a few years ago we did the Intro to gliding and I loved it. Went back this time and did the Acrobatic (Veritage) trip. It was amazing. Perhaps best ever.

Loops, dives straight down, fantastic G forces, corkscrews, upside down flying, etc. not very long (we were after all simply falling with style the whole time) but very fun.

Not for the faint of heart, but awesome for everyone else.

Didn't need the parachute
Feb 2017 • Solo
Never having been in a glider before, I was a bit nervous. The pilot gave clear instructions about the controls I was not supposed to touch and the instruments, airspeed, elevation, etc. What was nice was that I was in the nose of the glider, the front seat. Friends told me that the glider would be noisy but I didn't find it that way. I used the l little flap to let in fresh cool air on my face as I'm prone to motion sickness but fortunately it was not a problem.
I would recommend the glider flight to try it but I don't feel the need to go up again.

bought a glider flight for the other half as an anniversary present. although she loves flying was apprehensive but absolutely loved it. friendly staff but the safety talk seemed a little short and limited. hardest part was negotiating the car past huge boulders blocking the main path to the runway. all in all it was a great experience and would definitely visit again for a longer flight

Well worth a look

I didn't fly, but I did spend a very pleasant hour or so relaxing with a beer in hand, watching the planes land and take off. Definitely worth a look - friendly atmosphere in the restaurant too.

A great way to spend half a day in a beautiful place
Aug 2015 • Friends
I strongly recommend booking a glider flight for half an hour and flying over the surroundings - it was just terrific.
You'll need to be there 15m before the flight, you'll get your ticket and then it's a short drive to the runways. There, your pilot will come and find you, introduce himself and off you go to the glider. You will have a parachute strapped on and an explanation of safety features are explained. Don't forget a cap/hat and sunglasses and also closed shoes are compulsory.
There is a lovely restaurant called the Vol a Voile just beside the aerodrome where you can have an excellent meal either before or after your flight (lunchtimes) and watch planes and gliders coming and going to set the mood.

World class gliding experience
Mar 2015 • Solo
This is the place which makes Fayence so special, it is the world renowned gliding center from where you can make adventurous flight in the southern Alps. It is definitively a once-in-a-lifetime experience which I can't recommend enough. You need to make a booking a day or so in advance. You can either book the basic tour which takes you for some 80€ into the Alps, where you'll discover how they are able to fly nearby ridges. Unless go go for the all in tour, some 200€, where they take you deep in the Alps. If you can afford this, this is absolutely a once in a lifetime experience. You'll pass at a couple of metres next to hilltops, you'll see mountain lakes which are not accesible by walking etc.
This experience is not for small children however

Fabulous experience
Aug 2014 • Solo
While staying near Fayence I heard it was possible to be take a half hour glider flight from the nearby airfield for around 90 euros. We went to the airfield to book this and I was able to go immediately.
The pilot was very friendly and spoke excellent English. He took me through a briefing about what would be happening on the flight, fitted the parachute (obligatory in France) and explained the controls and instruments, after this we took off.
The glider is towed to a nearby ridge and released. The pilot used the thermals and up-draught to rapidly gain height, which was surprisingly exciting and then we soared about three thousand feet above the hills below. The pilot explained everything he was doing and pointed out many landmarks as we banked and circled. To my surprise I was then offered the chance to take control and was guided through a number of tight turns, where you could really feel the g forces. He then then demonstrated a stall where we stopped dead in the air and began to fall. He then went into a steep dive to gain speed and pulled out several hundred feet lower, which was an amazing feeling! I was allowed to take control again while we circled the airfield losing height prior to landing. The landing is also quite a thrill, you come in surprisingly fast and you feel very close to the ground in the cockpit. We were up for around half an hour in total and all in all I thought this was excellent for an experience I will never forget.
If you are staying in the area you should give it a try. Just a word of caution, you do feel everything in this small aircraft, if you are the type who is affected by the dropping sensation during turbulence on a flight, you should probably avoid it. However, if you like flying and are a bit of thrill seeker, you'll love it!
The airfield has a really nice restaurant and bar, although we didn't have time to try it, but I've heard it's a nice place to watch the coming and goings on the field, especially you are with others on holiday and they want to watch.
