If you would like to see this amazing point of Africa it's worth the drive.
From N2 highway Take R319 to Bredasdorp,
Then follow Struisbaai directions to Agulhas.
Drive right to the end you will see a lighthouse, pass it and find the sign that leads to a parking to view the monument and south African map statue.
Stop to have a meal or just enjoy the drive and scenery.

It is great to visit this area. You can see the divide between Atlantic and Indian oceans, vist the most southern point of Africa and also enjoy the beautiful small town of Aghula. Highly recommend to incude a visit to this area in your itinerary when you visit Capetown or are driving along Garden route.

It's a 3km easy round trip from Cape Aghulhas to the southernmost tip of Africa long boardwalks. The path follows the coast line through the small national park, from where you can enjoy the view of the sea and the fynbos along the way. At the southernmost point in Africa there'a big plaque to commemerate the fact and a demarcation indicating both the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. Of course you can go further south than the plaque itself but most people were happy to queue for a selfie and move on. There's also a big map of Africa just inland and behind the plaque which puts the African continent into context! A must do!

Long drive off the beaten track. We drove here from Hermanus before starting baths Garden Route.
Stunning rough coastline. Windy but sunny and beautiful. Most southerly point of Africa has small visitor area with signage and map of Africa sculpture, and short boardwalk - free of charge. Plenty parking.
Few cafes shops and toilets in village.

... unless, of course, you're taking a boat trip around the tip of the continent, or a special one to a remote island or to Antarctica, and this one is the safest of the lot! Enlivened by a relief of the continent, with the Nile and Kilimanjaro especially prominent, and a lighthouse with an intriguing history. Much to explore, therefore, beyond having your photograph taken by those queuing up behind you. Worth a second visit, too, to explore the whole of the park, or the fascinating histories of lighthouses in the museum.

There is a boardwalk from the car park past the lighthouse to get to the point. The point has a signpost for a photo opportunity and a large sculpture of Africa with mountains to scale, so you can climb Mount Kilimanjaro! Nice experience for a few minutes and of course say that you have been!

Literally (the head of the needles) represents the true southernmost point of all Africa and at this point a line is marked on the ground that marks the geographical north of the earth. Here, by convention the point where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Indian Ocean is indicated. The sea, rippling and bubbling, attacks the rocks continuously. A wreck of a Japanese fishing boat and the lighthouse (on which you can climb) well represent the maritime atmosphere of the place.
The three-dimensional relief giantography of Africa allows you to circumnavigate it "on foot" in seconds.

Must see. Despite the bad weather, it was very worth getting close to the southern edge of the continent. There were not too many people and you could see fishermen doing their jobs. A quiet place, which in sunshine must be spectacular. We'll definitely be back.

Beautiful, natural environment with a well kept walkway overlooking stunning views.
A monument is situated on the southernmost point with an inscription in Afrikaans/English describing it as such.
There is also a model of the African continent with 3D and colour features representative of the actual continent.
Travel Tips:
• Take a picture at the road sign indicating the offramp to the monument. It is full of stickera and makes a funky photo.
• Take a rain coat on a cloudy day as you will get rained on from all diractions.

Although the weather was bad, I enjoyed the drive to Cape Agulhas from Cape Town. At the southern most tip, you cannot see the the two oceans meet as most people might expect however it’s nice to visit and be able to say that you went to the southern most tip of Africa. You can also take a picture at the point where there is a marking indicating where the two oceans meet

Hello. I am considering to visit Cape Agulhas in Jan last week from Plettenburg Bay. I may leave post lunch from Pletternburg Bay and drive to Cape Agulhas. I plan to spend the night there and leave for Gansabai for Shark Cage dive in the morning from Cape Agulhas. I would like to know how is the present condition of the roads to drive en route to Cape Agulhas. Also, i plan to drive a mid-size sedan (like Toyota Corolla or similar). Please advise if that is fine or will there be any problem. Also, i would like to know which is a better location to stay-Sanpark or any other location? Look forward to inputs and advise from people who have been there. Thanks.

Hi! I drove a regular sedan and had no problem reaching Cape Agulhas. I used the N2 for most of my route.
Hope this answer reaches you in time.
Enjoy your trip!

How to get to Cape Agulhas if I don't have a private car?
Written November 25, 2016
Hi Sara, there is a bus from Cape Town to Cape Agulhas.
It is a long journey so it is better if you spend a night there. Make a one day trip is very tiring journey.
